OverviewSenior Software Development in Test Engineer (SDET) role at The Walt Disney Company Nordic & Baltic. This position focuses on building test automation, tools, reports, and services to enable product engineering teams to deliver Disney digital applications with quality and reliability.Technology is at the heart of Disney’s past, present, and future. The team combines technology with creativity to build world‑class products, enhance storytelling, and drive velocity, innovation, and scalability across Disney’s media portfolio.ResponsibilitiesDeveloping and supporting test automation frameworks, execution environments, build systems, and reporting toolsContributing to the development and maintenance of the architecture for frameworks, execution environments, build systems and tooling used across multiple productsIndependently break large stories into smaller tasks based on stakeholder requirementsDesign solutions and develop architecture for new project features, with occasional guidance from more senior engineersMaintaining documentation meant for end users as well as project contributor documentationSupport and mentor developers and manual testers through code reviews, knowledge-sharing, and technical leadershipInvestigating and resolving framework, tool, or environment issues affecting servicesBecoming a core member of the Productivity Engineering team, helping others increase productivity through innovation and championing Disney QualityBasic QualificationsMinimum of 5 years of progressive experience in a software development Engineer in Test (SDET) role, including automated testing of front-end and back-end services using a structured programming languageBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or equivalent work experienceProficient in object-oriented design and expertise with one of the following programming languages: Node/JavaScript, Java, PythonExperience with test automation and unit testing frameworksExcellent problem-solving skillsExcellent collaboration skills and ability to use SDLC tools such as Jira and Confluence, and version control systemsExperience leading one to two teams in technical solutioningStrong verbal and written communication skills; highly motivated and self-startingPreferred QualificationsPrior experience developing test automation frameworks in PythonExperience shipping a production React or Node.js applicationExperience in mobile and web application development and testingExperience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS)Experience working with Agile methodologiesWorking knowledge of web accessibility fundamentalsExperience with Kafka, Amazon SQS, and KinesisExperience with Docker, Kubernetes, Spinnaker, and CI/CD systemsExperience writing Gherkin Syntax for automated test scenariosExperience developing advanced mocking mechanismsExperience with test management tools (e.g., JIRA Xray)Equal OpportunityThe Walt Disney Company is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate based on race, national origin, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, protected veteran status, disability, age, or other legally protected status.
