This role assists the Accounting & Reporting Advisory Services (ARAS) team and assists companies with the implementation of new accounting standards, as well as other accounting and reporting related projects. The Managing Director will be expected to manage day to day relationships with clients, lead engagement teams and foster new opportunities.Job SummaryJOB DESCRIPTIONThe Assurance Managing Director, Accounting Advisory & Outsourcing is responsible for identifying opportunities for projects related to complex accounting and reporting matters, as well as other accounting advisory projects for both public and private companies. This role assists the Accounting & Reporting Advisory Services (ARAS) team and assists companies with the implementation of new accounting standards, as well as other accounting and reporting related projects. The Managing Director will be expected to manage day to day relationships with clients, lead engagement teams and foster new opportunities.Job DutiesWorks with the ARAS team in reviewing and researching complex accounting & reporting matters and communicates back to client in both written and verbal formatLeverages existing and helps design new ARAS tools and templates for use on ARAS engagementsApplies relevant GAAP, GAAS, SEC PCAOB, other applicable or emerging regulations and standards and the BDO Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct with honesty and integrityDemonstrates thought leadership, and provides value-added insights in BDO's formal communications and in articles and speeches for external audiencesProduces thought leadership pieces, conference calls and live presentations for client and perspective clientsEvaluates impact of new accounting standards and new business transactions, including business combination; discontinued operations, debt modifications, stock compensation and other complex financial instrumentsDevelops business opportunities including:Developing relationships with external channel producers (i.e., bankers, lawyers, other firms)Identifying service opportunities across all business linesGenerating new business opportunities in excess of $1,250,000 annuallyApplies technical knowledge to develop, administer and deliver training courses or presentation materials including:Defining Training GoalsSupervising course development or updating, and evaluating coursesFacilitating training courses, and evaluating course/presentation effectiveness based upon participant and presenter feedbackParticipates on professional committeesOther duties as requiredSupervisory ResponsibilitiesProvides verbal and written performance reviews to associates, seniors and managers as applicableActs as a Career Advisor to associates, seniors and managers as assignedReviews work prepared by associates, senior associates, and managers and provides review comments as appropriateEducationQualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Statistics, required; ORBachelor's degree in other focus area and CPA certification, requiredMasters of Accountancy or Taxation, preferredExperienceTwelve (12) or more years of experience providing accounting & reporting advisory services, requiredSeven (7) or more years supervisory experience, preferredLicense/CertificationsCPA Certification, requiredSoftwareProficient in Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, preferredExperience with accounting research databases, preferredOther Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesSolid understanding and proficiency with accounting standards and reporting requirements for public companiesStrong leadership and management skillsSuperior written and verbal communications skillsPossess excellent client development/relationship-building skillsIndividual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.National Range: $240,000 - $260,000Maryland Range: $240,000 - $260,000NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $240,000 - $260,000About UsJoin us at BDO, where you will find more than a career, you’ll find a place where your work is impactful, and you are valued for your individuality.
