These sentiments are echoed in our culture, where we believe that building on and embracing our unique differences and perspectives enables us to better serve our members and fulfill UE’s mission.PositionThe Associate Vice President of Finance is responsible for assisting the Chief Financial Officer & Vice President of Finance in overseeing the fiscal stewardship of the organization, including directing financial activities, ensuring regulatory compliance, planning and developing processes and systems, guiding the Board and committees on financial matters, and assisting in the development of multi-year financial models and strategic plans.ResponsibilitiesPerform analysis of financial reports, business plans, budgets and forecasts, highlighting significant items, explaining complicated financial matters simply, and providing meaningful explanations for variances to senior management and the Board.Work with Chief Investment Officer, outside consultants and asset managers to monitor and manage the investment portfolio.Coordinate activities and meetings of the Audit and Investment Committees.Enhance, develop, and implement policies, procedures and systems that will improve overall operation and effectiveness of the company.Develop, revise and enhance the multi-year financial model. Create and update rolling monthly forecast. Lead the annual business plan preparation and interim forecasts.Deliver timely monthly reporting, and provide insights to senior management into key trends that are emerging in the business.Work with other departments to develop KPIs and create dashboards and reports that provide a consolidated view of important operating and financial metrics across the company.Represent interests of the Finance function in enterprise-wide technology implementation efforts.Oversee operations of the Accounting/Finance Department, led by the controller including the following: preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports, filing of quarterly and annual state and federal tax and regulatory filings, maintenance of books and records, processing of reinsurance premiums and losses, processing of receipts and disbursements, development of policies and procedures, maintenance and management of operating accounts, annual independent audit and triennial regulatory audit, procurement of property and liability insurance, investment accounting and reporting, fixed asset accounting and reporting, annual allocations to Subscriber Savings municate with sponsors/owners on valuation and status of their investments in the Company.Collaborate across departments to improve department’s ability to meet UE goals and objectives.Work with employees to clarify expectations and to establish objectives and developmental plans.Meet regularly with employees to discuss their progress and concerns, and to offer ongoing support and advice.RequirementsBachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related disciplineCertified Public Accountant. Investment and/or Insurance Designations are a plusTen years or more of experience in financial management; insurance experience preferredAbility to analyze complex and diverse information and present in the context of the overall businessAbility to think strategically and incorporate financial analysis into strategic thinkingAbility to identify new business issues and translate into actionable stepsExcellent supervisory and team-building skillsExcellent computer and software application skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Accounting software)Excellent oral and written communication skills, including experience in presenting information to colleagues and Board membersHigh degree of integrity and outstanding business judgmentAbility to thrive in an atmosphere of constant changeSalary and BenefitsThe below annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to determine the final salary offer.
