By combining deep OS-level integration with seamless access to cloud content we enable productivity for millions of users across industries with the speed and familiarity of local this role, you will work on Box Drive, the most-used Box client application. We’re looking for an experienced engineering manager to lead our Core Syncing team—the group responsible for the heart of how Box Drive keeps content in sync across devices. You’ll lead a team of engineers, shape the roadmap for mission-critical systems, and ensure our syncing technology delivers seamless, reliable experiences to users.WHAT YOU'LL DOGuide Project Execution: Oversee your team’s priorities, facilitate decision-making, and ensure projects are on track. Work with your scrum team to anticipate and mitigate roadblocks, ensuring smooth delivery of features and initiatives.Lead and Develop Your Team: Mentor engineers, foster growth, and provide ongoing development opportunities through regular check-ins and support.Collaborate and Strategize: Work with product managers, designers, and cross-functional teams to design, build, and ship end-to-end experiences. Align with leads from other Desktop teams on broader strategies and shared initiatives.Shape the Future Roadmap: Participate in quarterly planning and estimation, contributing to the strategic direction for your scrum team and the Desktop novate and Problem-Solve: Engage in design, planning, and architecture discussions, evaluate design approaches, and address user pain points related to performance, security, and more.Showcase Team Achievements: Regularly share project updates and discoveries with the wider team to foster knowledge sharing.Manage and coordinate the team’s on-call rotation to ensure timely incident response and drive improvements to minimize disruptions.WHO YOU AREStrong interest in hands-on people management—working directly with engineers, supporting project delivery, and developing scrum team capabilities.Ability to break down complex problems and design actionable plans.3+ years experience as a software engineering manager, ideally with experience leading remote and local teams.8+ years experience in software engineering or a related field.Strong empathy for users and customers, with a desire to understand use cases and solve pain points.Strong communicator, able to articulate a compelling vision for the team.Track record in engineering excellence, quality, simplicity, and continuous improvement.We are an AI-first company.
