With deep knowledge and expertise in applying machine learning to solve complex, real-world problems, the incumbent formulates, recommends, and administers data-driven projects geared at furthering the company’s interests. The role helps develop cutting edge AI and ML driven solutions based on clinical, claims, payer, and behavioral data. The Senior Data Scientist operates in a highly collaborative environment to deliver analytics products that have the potential to influence healthcare thought and delivery at scale.Essential Job Duties / ResponsibilitiesDevelops complex algorithms and statistical predictive models and determines analytical approaches and modeling techniques to evaluate scenarios and potential future outcomes.Performs analyses of structured and unstructured data to solve multiple and complex business problems utilizing advanced statistical techniques and mathematical analyses.Applies analytical rigor and statistical/ML methods to analyze large amounts of data, using advanced statistical techniques.Manages large and complex analytical projects from data exploration, model building, performance evaluation and testing.Mentors junior staff, providing technical guidance and collaborating with business partners to develop technical and business teracts with internal and external peers and management to share highly complex information related to areas of expertise and to gain acceptance of new or enhanced technology/business solutions.Identifies meaningful insights from big data sources. Coordinates research initiatives and serves as an internal consultant to improve decision making through analytical concepts and techniques.Performs other duties as assigned and modified at manager’s discretion.Knowledge, Skills And AbilitiesKeen business acumen and analytical thinkingStrong knowledge of machine learning fundamentals including classical and deep learning techniquesExcellent verbal communication skills; able to articulate complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiencesSuperb interpersonal, organizational, time-management, facilitation and coordination skillsGoal-oriented with ability to set and achieve deliverablesMentorship abilities and leadership in a team environmentAbility to foster a collaborative work environmentProficiency in Python with hands-on experience implementing production ML systemsProficiency with relational databases and programming languages such as SQL, Python, scikit-learn, TensorFlow, and shell scriptingMicrosoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and other standard software toolsAbility and willingness to travel locally, regionally and nationwide up to 10% of the timeSpoken and written fluency in EnglishAbility to exercise independent judgmentEducation And Experience CriteriaBA/BS degree in Medical Informatics, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, Economics or related field required, or equivalent experienceMaster’s or PhD degree in a quantitative field preferredMinimum of 3 years of industry work experience in data science/machine learning rolesExperience with at least one cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud)Certified Analytics Professional (CAP) a plusWe’re ChenMed and we’re transforming healthcare for seniors.
