We seek creative problem solvers to improve mobility with self-driving tech, collaborating daily with engineers and researchers in AI, robotics, and computer vision.WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?The team seeks a Machine Learning engineer to develop a real-time online mapping system for autonomous driving, using perception data to infer road geometry and other essential information, moving beyond traditional HD maps.Your role involves driving innovation in online map recognition, considering constraints like memory and sensor capabilities, training and deploying models, and testing on prototype and production vehicles. You will work closely with the autolabeling team for ground truth data and model reuse.We encourage applicants to reach out even if they do not meet all criteria.ResponsibilitiesPrototype, validate, and iterate ML models for online mapping.Develop end-to-end ML models, from data strategy to deployment and fine-tuning.Lead projects influencing online mapping architecture and direction.Mentor and support team members in high-quality coding and ML experiments.Work in an agile, fast-paced environment.Collaborate with stakeholders to define interfaces for perception systems.Partner with perception teams for integrated solutions.Minimum QualificationsMS or higher in CS/CE/EE or equivalent experience.3+ years experience with ML frameworks like PyTorch, Caffe, or TensorFlow.3+ years experience in ML workflows including data curation, training, evaluation, and deployment.Extensive experience with ML and classification problems.Strong Python or C++ skills.Passion for applying ML to self-driving tech.Excellent communication skills.Experience with production software development best practices.NICE TO HAVESExperience with vision-based perception and mapping ML models.Hands-on experience with perception stacks for autonomous systems.Knowledge of automotive maps and runtime optimization.Experience with CUDA/OpenCL and automotive edge platforms.Building safety-critical software architectures.Salary ranges vary by level and location, e.g., Senior: $140K-$230K, Staff: $161K-$264.5K in Palo Alto, CA.
