OverviewJoin to apply for the Supervisory Dietitian role at DC Department of Human ResourcesThe incumbent serves as a Clinical Dietitian, responsible for providing nutrition and dietetic services to patients at Saint Elizabeths Hospital (SEH), in the Department of Behavioral Health (DBH), and to supervise the day-to-day operations of the Forensic Food Service Unit. The role includes communicating serving instructions at pre-meal conferences and maintaining regular daily schedules for food service, as well as coordinating food service operations and supervising subordinates.ResponsibilitiesProvide clinical nutrition support services to patients with diverse specialties and psychiatric programs.Serve as the nutrition expert advisor and consultant to patients, health care teams, program managers, department and associate directors, and nutrition staff.Coordinate food service operations, review and revise work assignments, and maintain distribution of duties in conformance with employee grades.Approve leave requests of subordinates and maintain discipline among Food Service staff.Assist in formulating and coordinating new developments or changes in Medical Nutrition Therapy and dietetic services.Ensure implementation and utilization of current dietetic practices and assist with menu design and approval.Consult in several areas of specialty to other dietitians and medical officers to address complex patient care needs.QualificationsThorough knowledge of the full range of food preparation principles, techniques, and procedures in a health care dietary setting.Current registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) and must be a Registered Dietitian (RD).Licensure with the District of Columbia Regulatory Agency (DCRA) and meet academic requirements of the Didactic Program in Dietetics; must be a Licensed Dietitian (LD).Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics, Institution Management, or Public Health Nutrition.Extensive knowledge of Nutrition and Dietetics to supervise and address complex clinical problems in psychiatric care.Work Environment and RequirementsWork is performed in a controlled environment with safety precautions; pre-employment physical required.COVID-19 vaccination is required or a valid exemption may be requested.This position is designated as “Safety Sensitive” with required checks and tests (criminal background, drug/alcohol testing, etc.).Area of Consideration: Open to the Public; Duration of Appointment: Permanent; Tour of Duty: 7:30 am – 4:00 pm (Mon-Fri).Additional InformationResidency Preference Amendments and related criteria may apply for certain applicants.First Screening: 2/14/25.Job Offers are issued through the Office of Human Resources only.EEOEEO Statement: The District of Columbia Government is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
