Bring your true colors to blue.What We NeedBlue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts (BCBSMA) seeks an Actuarial Consultant to join the Actuarial Leadership Development program. Members of the Actuarial Leadership Development Program support our corporate strategy in critical areas including competitiveness, affordability, profitability, provider payment reform and health care policy.Your Day to DayWork with a rich dataset and a robust well-established Enterprise Data Warehouse to identify emerging drivers of health care trend and cost, market pressures, and profitability by designing, compiling, and executing own analysis or reporting.Design compelling visualizations and build innovative models to influence and analyze new products, provider payment structures, and health care delivery mechanisms that will lower cost and improve the quality of care provided to our members, making a clear recommendation on path forward with supporting rationale.Assists in performance of financial projections and actuarial analysis for well-defined projects, making recommendations to various customers/departmentsLead development of processes/analyses to determine financial performance or evaluate cost/benefit, working to ensure consistent representation across the entire businessMay be responsible for leading actuarial projects relating to complex issues and trends, driving projects to completion, communicating results and facilitating implementationThis document is not an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, skills, duties, requirements, or working conditions associated with the job. Math, Business, Healthcare or related field strongly preferredA minimum of 4 years professional experience, preferably in healthcare or related industryMinimum of ASA Designation preferredMinimum of 4 years’ experience in data analysis/extraction/manipulation using tools like SAS, SQL, R, Python, etc. strongly preferredMinimum of 4 years’ experience developing data visualization in tools such as Tableau and analytic automation (scripting, macros) strongly preferredWhat You BringAbility to communicate (written & verbal) and collaborate with various business partners, including clinical and technical and non-technical staff requiredProven ability to constantly innovateCommitment to participate in the Actuarial Leadership Development Program and obtain FSA designation.What You’ll GainExperience as an actuarial consultant trough participation in our rotational development program, designed to ensure all program members are exposed to a wide range of actuarial positionsThe ability to enhance technical skills such as Python and Tableau through offerings in collaboration with our Data & Analytics communityA robust support network through the Actuarial Leadership Development Program – exam support through both study time and study materials, access to career planning tools, leadership development training, and more!Minimum Education RequirementsHigh school degree or equivalent required unless otherwise noted aboveLocationBostonTime TypeFull timeSalary Range: $90,000.00 - $139,700.00The job posting range is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee’s pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs and affordability.This job is also eligible for variable pay.We offer comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance, 401(k), and a suite of well-being benefits to eligible employees.Note: No amount of pay is considered to be wages or compensation until such amount is earned, vested, and determinable.
