Position Summary: The Medication Technician Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the self-administration of prescribed and over-the-counter (OTC) medications by clients, ensuring compliance with facility policies and applicable state regulations. This role provides leadership, oversight, and supervision to the medication technician team, ensures proper medication management procedures are followed, and maintains accurate documentation. The supervisor is also responsible for managing quarantine protocols related to contagious illnesses, in collaboration with other agency clinical and medical staff. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.Other duties may be assigned Supervise, schedule, and support all medication technicians to ensure proper staffing and compliance with facility policies and Texas state regulations. Oversee all processes related to medication self-administration, including verification of client identity, medication type, dosage, and timing. Ensure accurate documentation of administered, refused, or missed doses in accordance with facility protocols. Manage the ordering, receipt, storage, inventory, and disposal of medications, ensuring compliance with state and DEA regulations. Perform and document regular audits of medication inventory and administration records, addressing discrepancies and ensuring ongoing compliance. Educate clients about their medications and support medication adherence as part of their recovery. Assist clients in accessing external medical services when indicated, including making referrals and providing health education. Coordinate quarantine protocols for clients or children diagnosed with or exposed to contagious illnesses, and ensure related care and medication procedures are followed. Maintain accurate and timely records of all medication-related activities, including quarantine care, in line with public health and facility guidelines. Participate in the recruitment, training, and ongoing professional development of medication technicians. Collaborate with nursing, medical, and clinical teams to support coordinated care and respond to medication-related issues. Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives related to medication safety and client care. Education and Experience: Current LVN (Licensed Vocational Nurse) license in good standing in the state of Texas. Minimum of 2 years of experience in a healthcare or residential treatment setting; experience in a substance use disorder (SUD) treatment facility strongly preferred. Supervisory or leadership experience preferred, especially in medication management or residential health services. Familiarity with Texas DSHS and DEA regulations related to medication storage and self-administration in behavioral health settings. CPR certification required (or ability to obtain upon hire). Additional training or certification in substance use disorder treatment or behavioral health preferred. High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or higher in nursing or a related healthcare field preferred.
