Plant Engineering Manager (Water Quality)SALARY The minimum salary is $96,112.64 annually. This position is not eligible for overtime (exempt); however, the city has a compensatory time leave program for employees that grants leave time for hours worked in excess of forty hours. Pay Grade 531FILING DEADLINE DATE The deadline to apply is Monday, October 6, 2025GENERAL DESCRIPTION The purpose of this classification is to provide technical management over all wastewater treatment plant capital improvements. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Bachelor's degree in engineering Eight (8) years of related experience, 2 years of which should be directly related to water or wastewater treatment plant design. Additional years of related education may substitute for years of experience ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Directs and manages all wastewater treatment plant capital improvements and establishes short and long range goals for the treatment plants Develops project scopes, selects design engineers, oversees contractor selection and manages construction contracts to ensure program goals are met Prepares, coordinates, evaluates and/or approves bids, designs, specifications, plans, contracts, applications, and estimates Develops and administers annual budget for current and upcoming programs and projects; manages project financials including pay applications and change orders Performs research, design solutions, coordinates recommendations, and manages in-house projects from design through construction to resolve issues within the treatment plants; communicates with and advises plant superintendents, staff, contractors and the administration. Supervises and evaluates the work of subordinates; directs the work of project engineers, contractors, inspectors, and clerical staff Performs related work as assigned SPECIAL LICENSE/CERTIFICATION All Certifications and licenses must be maintained as a condition of employment. Professional Engineer License issued by the State of Kentucky; those with an equivalent license issued by another state, must obtain licensure in the State of Kentucky within the six (6) month probationary period. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS All positions require drug testing and background check before employment and may require a post-job offer physical as stated in Ordinances 21-14(b), 22-13 and 23-16.
