OverviewREIC is seeking a strategic Vice President of Legal to join our leadership team to be based at our HQ in the Denver Tech Center. Reporting to the CEO, this role will serve as the company's chief legal advisor, providing practical, business-focused counsel to executives and managers across the organization. As our first in-house legal counsel, you will have the tremendous opportunity to build this function and team from scratch and directly contribute to the success of the organization as we grow!The VP of Legal will oversee all corporate legal functions, including contracts, compliance, litigation, and M&A, ensuring that REIC operates with integrity while supporting long-term business growth.Key ResponsibilitiesAdvise the CEO and leadership team on legal and strategic business matters.Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and agreements.Oversee compliance, risk management, and corporate governance.Manage litigation and outside counsel.Lead legal aspects of M&A, due diligence, and integrations.Develop policies, training, and guidelines to support business teams.Detailed ResponsibilitiesResponsible for protecting an organization's legal interest and maintaining its operations within the scope established by law.Guide the senior leadership team on the legal matters and as needed, business direction.Draft and/or review contracts, legal paperwork and documentation that protect and support the company's interests while adhering to corporate compliance laws.Identify and analyze legal issues.Collaborate on organization in business negotiations.Contribute to development an organization's policies, practices, and guidelines.Review and update company standard terms and conditions.Primary collaborator with outside legal advisors on various matters.Develop and deliver training to sales and managers on contracts.As in-house counsel, manage external law firms, handle legal disputes and litigation on behalf of the company, including negotiations and court representation.Represent the company for legal deals by negotiating, modifying, and executing contracts.Collaborate with leadership for business acquisitions and other M&A transactionsQualificationsJD and active State Bar membership.8+ years of legal experience, including corporate and in-house counsel.Expertise in contracts, compliance, employment law, and M&A.Strong negotiation, analytical, and business acumen.Preferred experience in construction industry.REIC is an equal opportunity employer and values diversity at all levels of the organization.REIC does NOT accept solicitations from outside recruiters.REIC and all affiliates operate as drug-free environments, which includes marijuana.
