Software bridges the gap between military objectives, theoretical astrodynamics and the human and autonomous control of spacecraft and ground systems in time and space. True Anomaly is seeking a highly-experienced Staff Elixir Software Engineer to lead development of our distributed spacecraft ground control system.You do not need to have experience building space ground systems or experience in aerospace. You’ll have ownership of challenging, greenfield problems and a chance to fundamentally impact the outcome of future conflict (and the future of the company), all while enjoying world-class benefits including platinum healthcare, flexible work hours/location, highly competitive compensation and a generous stock options package.RESPONSIBILITIESDesign, develop, and sustain satellite command and control, mission planning, mission data processing and data analysis software systems using ElixirCreate and implement clean software architectures that deliver consistent results from a growing team while scaling in complexityLeverage Domain-Driven Design to surface fundamental capabilities and decompose work scope into core business logic to achieve specific, measurable business outcomesChampion simple software development lifecycle processes that ensure transparency, traceability, and accountabilityLead cross-discipline teams to deliver impactful results through collaboration, coordination, and systems integrationQUALIFICATIONS10+ years of production software development experiencePractical experience with Elixir or other functional programming languages like Erlang, Clojure, Scala, or HaskellProven experience developing resilient and fault-tolerant architectureDemonstrated leadership ability, exceptional written and oral communication skills, and aptitude for working across disciplinesEnjoys debugging and problem-solving systems supporting active spacecraft operationsExperience with distributed systems and API designA strong bias towards action while understanding and rejecting the status quoPREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCEBachelor’s degree in computer science or similar discipline or relevant experienceDeep understanding of Elixir and OTP including BEAM scheduling, GenServers, supervision trees, and the Actor modelExperience with OAuth2 and Role-Based Access ControlsDatabase experience with PostgreSQL and time-series databases like InfluxDBExperience with monitoring and tracing in a distributed systemAn understanding of containerized infrastructure and orchestration with KubernetesExperience working with real-time or game engine backendsCOMPENSATIONWashington D.C.
