Physician Starting Salary Range: $154,945 - $185,935 GGRC is currently hiring a Physician to provide medical evaluations as part of the assessment process to determine eligibility for potential clients and to offer consultation on medical matters to Social Workers and other staff. The role involves working closely with nurses and case management staff on issues related to medical treatment consents and advance directives. This position is 32 hours per week with a hybrid schedule, allowing work from any of our three offices in San Mateo, San Francisco, and San Rafael, CA. Travel within San Francisco, San Mateo, and Marin counties is required, along with occasional statewide travel across California. Reliable transportation is essential for travel between various locations to fulfill job responsibilities. What You'll Do: Client Assessment & Support Assess individuals for eligibility and level of function, including determining medical diagnoses. Contact primary physicians and agencies to obtain and clarify medical/health information. Arrange specialty examinations and tests. Review medical and developmental histories of clients. Lead interdisciplinary team meetings to determine eligibility for services. Participate in planning for client care with other professionals. Develop medical care plans for clients. Counsel clients’ families on medical aspects of developmental disabilities. Serve as a medical consultant on complex cases, including psychotropic medication management. Coordinate with medical and psychiatric providers, acting as a liaison for families and case managers. Collaborate with nurses and case management staff on issues related to medical treatment consents and advance directives. Organizational Support: Coach case managers on developmental and behavioral signs. Consult with regional center professionals. Participate in regional and community committees. Serve as a liaison with the medical community and advocate for prevention services. Participate in training programs and represent the center in community and medical associations. Train interns and residents about the regional center system and developmental disabilities. Maintain records and reports according to professional standards. Participate in special projects and additional duties as assigned. Ensure confidentiality of client information in compliance with HIPAA and the Lanterman Act. Education & Qualifications: Medical Degree (M.D.) California medical license and ability to maintain it in good standing. Certification or eligibility in a specialty such as Pediatrics, Internal Medicine, Neurology, or Family Practice. At least 2 years’ experience in developmental disabilities or related fields, or MPH with relevant experience. Skills: Ability to interpret medical information for non-medical staff. Sound medical decision-making with incomplete information. Strong observational skills for developmental and behavioral assessment. Understanding of human development. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Proficiency with basic office equipment and MS Office applications.
