Learn more at DescriptionThe Senior Associate, Sustainability & Mission will support our mission by managing regenerative agriculture programs, coordinating climate tracking and reporting, supporting internal employee engagement related to human and planetary health, managing retailer sustainability surveys, and supporting sustainability communications and research projects. This position reports to the Head of Sustainability.Key ResponsibilitiesRegenerative Agriculture ProgramsCoordinate a subset of regenerative agriculture farmer engagement programs for key ingredients. Manage multi-year partnerships with technical experts and ingredient suppliers.Retailer Reporting and Climate TrackingLead retailer sustainability survey responses and support other retailer engagements by partnering with Sales, Procurement, and the Sustainability & Mission team.Conduct annual Greenhouse Gas Inventory, collecting data from various teams, managing calculations, and leading the partnership with our data tracking software platform provider. Ensure data align with evolving industry methodologies; work with suppliers and software providers to improve emissions factors for key ingredients.Analyze environmental impact data and present information in a digestible form for diverse audiences to ensure the sustainability approach is impactful and ternal EngagementFacilitate the cross-functional People & Planet Ambassadors group and support employees as liaisons for their functions to advance health initiatives.Support employee People & Planet learning sessions by selecting topics, coordinating external speakers, and planning events (in-person and virtual).Communications and EventsSupport the Head of Sustainability and Marketing to develop credible, impactful sustainability messaging for external speaking events, media, social channels, and other contexts.Assist Marketing in arranging events that highlight the mission, such as farm visits for influencers and the Expo West trade show.Other ResponsibilitiesSupport Procurement and Innovation to embed human and planetary health considerations into ingredient selection and product design.Support the Head of Sustainability on various projects and research assignments.Performs other duties as assigned.Qualifications2-3 years of work experience in sustainability, agriculture, climate action, or related field.Bachelor's degree in a related field (environmental science, biology, agricultural science, agricultural policy, sustainability, data analysis, or engineering).Personal resonance with Simple Mills’ mission to advance human and planetary health through food.Experience with greenhouse gas impact tracking, including Life Cycle Assessment and Greenhouse Gas terest in and experience with agricultural systems, e.g., through agricultural research, managing farmer engagement programs in a CPG context, or farming experience; candidates with farming experience are encouraged to mitment to continually learning about environmental and nutrition science developments.Ability to work with an enterprise mindset and consider other teams’ goals while championing the mission.Strong business acumen and strategic approach to sustainability initiatives within a for-profit context.Strong research skills and ability to substantiate claims with scientific sources.Advanced Excel and PowerPoint proficiency; strong data storytelling and writing skills.Ability to adapt quickly to new contexts and fast-moving projects; entrepreneurial, self-starter mindset, and comfort with ambiguity.Strong prioritization skills to manage competing tasks.Working at Simple MillsWe’re building a movement that transforms how food is made and enjoyed.
