Role OverviewGlobal Chief Underwriting Officer – Fronting, Multinational and Trade Credit oversees underwriting globally for a specific line and collaborates with business units.Key responsibilities include leading underwriting strategies, enhancing technical and analytical capabilities, profitability of portfolios, underwriting appetite, controls, guidelines, authorities, policy wording, and learning and development for underwriters. Also collaborates with other AIG stakeholder groups.Fronting And Multinational ResponsibilitiesDevelop and implement global consistency and standards for Fronting in General Insurance (including Multinational, NA Fronting, Group Captives, and AIGRM).Oversee fronting and multinational value proposition to deliver a seamless global controlled master program aligned with local geographies and the US Foreign Casualty team.Drive CUO vision and value proposition considering technology, business drivers, risk analytics and financial elements; demonstrate value of AIG across producer delivery network.Collaborate with business leaders to develop strategy to position fronting and multinational products and client segments for long-term profitable leadership; include underwriting strategies, portfolio construction, capital use, monitoring standards, controls, authority management, and performance reviews.Product liaison to/from AIG’s Multinational Division; support Head of Multinational with leadership and direction.Develop and deploy a framework for Fronting and Multinational authority; assign authority to leaders within NA and International.Drive underwriting excellence by ensuring adherence to risk appetite, capacity, standards and guidelines, and rate and pricing adequacy.Create a framework for allocating Fronting and Multinational authority for Underwriters; align training to authority grants.Collaborate with support functions to share insights and best practices across the organization.Establish relationships with Product leadership to drive effective execution of the Fronting and Multinational business model.Develop strong relationships with regional leaders, Legal, Claims, Actuarial, Regulatory and ERM.Implement KPIs and monitor adherence to standards across Fronting deals.Develop and deliver innovative market-leading solutions for AIG’s clients; position and market them.Leverage strengths as a competitive differentiator; promote a collaborative, diverse and inclusive culture.Trade Credit Business ResponsibilitiesLead the Trade Credit, Surety and Political Violence teams within the Chief Underwriting Office.Review and set credit/collateral guidelines; monitor policy language and updates.Ensure consistent underwriting best practices across global Specialty Products; coordinate with product leaders, regions, and Legal Entities on amendments to wordings and rating plans.Provide input on structures and technology to support underwriting, pricing and segmentation.Manage exposure and aggregation; ensure operating within risk appetite; implement monitoring procedures.Establish an internal and external peer review program with robust monitoring.Ideal ExperienceAt least 15 years insurance leadership experience, including global product oversight.Oversight of multiple products/geographies; strong analytical and conceptual skills; ability to develop creative solutions.Knowledge of market segmentation, portfolio management, acquisition and distribution.Experience in financial reviews, credit underwriting, and setting collateral requirements.Expert technical underwriting background with knowledge of LOB insurance and reinsurance across industries.Strategic leadership, vision, and team leadership.Strong internal and external stakeholder relationships; change leadership; client-focused, results-oriented.For positions based in New York, the base salary range is $300,000-$350,000. In addition, the position is eligible for a bonus per incentive plan.
