Location: Baltimore, MD or New Richmond, WIJob Type: Full-time | On-sitePosition OverviewWe are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Baltimore-based team. Alternatively, the position can also be based in our New Richmond, WI facility. This role will be responsible for the research, design, development, testing, and implementation of mechanical and hydraulic systems and components for our dredging and pumping equipment. The ideal candidate will have the credentials of Professional Engineer or Naval Architect and will contribute to cross-functional teams and support both new product development and ongoing product improvement initiatives. This position may require occasional domestic and international travel (Key ResponsibilitiesAnalyze and design structural components related to dredging equipment.Produce detailed 3D models, drawings, and engineering documentation using SolidWorks.Review legacy designs and assist in resolving shop and field issues.Create and manage detailed project plans to ensure alignment with technical and business goals.Design and develop complex hydraulic systems, including calculations, component selection, line sizing, and cooling requirements.Create hydraulic schematics using AutoCAD, Solidworks or equivalent software.Design and route hoses, manifolds, and hydraulic components for mobile marine equipment.Engineer diesel-driven drive trains including engine, clutch/transmission, and coupling selections.Manage vendor relationships and convey component specifications clearly.Participate in the Engineering Change Notice (ECN) process.Design and develop fuel, cooling, intake, and exhaust systems.Collaborate with internal teams including Manufacturing, Quality, Sales, Service, and Purchasing to ensure seamless integration and execution of projects.Provide technical assistance to subcontractors and fabricators to ensure product quality and customer satisfaction.Assist in diagnosing and resolving technical issues across the product lifecycle.Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.Professional Engineer or Naval Architect designations.Minimum of 8-10 years of hands-on experience in mechanical engineering, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial equipment environment.Proficient in Solidworks (3D modeling) and AutoCAD.Strong understanding of diesel powertrain and hydraulic system integration.Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.Strong written and verbal communication and collaboration skills.Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.Must be responsive and adaptable to the needs of the engineering and production teams.Preferred Skills (Not Required)Experience with marine or heavy industrial pensation & BenefitsEllicott Dredges offers a competitive compensation package and a comprehensive benefits program, including:401(k) with company matchMedical, dental, and vision insuranceFlexible spending accounts (FSA)Life and AD&D insurancePaid time off and holidaysParental leaveEmployee wellness programsScheduleMonday to FridayRelocation/CommuteCandidates must be able to reliably commute to or plan to relocate to Baltimore, MD 21230 prior to the start date.Ellicott Dredges, LLC is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
