Senior E&S Primary Casualty UnderwriterZurich is currently looking to hire an experienced E&S Primary Casualty Underwriter to join the new E&S Primary Casualty team in Phoenix, Dallas, or Houston. This position will be based in one of these locations with a hybrid work arrangement. You will partner with your manager to set a flexible work schedule that supports you, our customers, and our brokers and agents. This role requires visibility in the marketplace to meet with agents and brokers and involves working with national wholesalers to drive growth with a focus on profitability.Zurich E&S is dedicated 100% to a wholesale distribution model and a product and technology strategy designed to make Zurich a market leader in E&S as measured by gross written premium, profitability, and employee satisfaction. This role may be filled at Senior or AVP Underwriter level; the hiring manager will determine the appropriate level based on the selected applicant’s experience and skillset relative to the qualifications listed.What you can expect in an E&S Primary Casualty Underwriting position at ZurichYou will develop and maintain relationships with broker partners and customers across all industries in support of business objectivesYou will leverage your casualty underwriting acumen across risk assessment, exposure evaluation and pricing to generate and maintain a profitable book of new and renewal businessYou will work collaboratively across business units including but not limited to claims, finance, risk engineering, actuary, and technical underwriting while gaining extensive knowledge in a growing and innovative industryYou will be empowered to use your market-facing, negotiation and interpersonal skills to grow and develop relationships with preferred distribution partners in an assigned territoryOur E&S Primary Casualty Underwriter is responsible forServing as a customer industry advocate with a focus on improving the customer experience by understanding their risk and offering the best end-to-end solution for their insurance needsUsing a disciplined approach to exposure evaluation, risk assessment and pricingUsing risk insights, data and models to drive informed decisions at point of saleMarket facing and production within the growing Zurich E&S Casualty divisionAdministering and monitoring underwriting rules and guidelines, insurance laws and regulations and rating manual rulesWorking within broad limits and authorities on highly complex assignmentsCoaching, developing and empowering junior team membersBasic QualificationsSenior E&S Primary Casualty Underwriter: High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5+ years of experience in underwriting or market facing area; OR High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10+ years of experience in claims or underwriting support; OR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 3+ years of experience in underwriting or market facing area; OR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 8+ years in claims or underwriting support areaAVP, E&S Primary Casualty Underwriter: High School Diploma or Equivalent and 7+ years of experience in underwriting or market facing area; OR High School Diploma or Equivalent and 14+ years of experience in claims or underwriting support area; OR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 5+ years in underwriting or market facing area; OR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 12+ years in claims or underwriting support areaPreferred QualificationsBachelor’s Degree or equivalent E&S Commercial insurance industry experienceTechnical knowledge of primary casualty underwriting with E&SEstablished wholesale broker relationships (E&S brokers)Creative problem-solving skillsStrong verbal and written communication skillsAt Zurich, compensation for roles is influenced by a variety of factors, including location, role, skill set, and experience. Zurich commits to providing a fair and reasonable compensation range for each role. The combined salary range for this position is $98,500.00–$215,000.00. The proposed salary ranges are: Senior E&S Primary Casualty Underwriter $98,500.00–$165,000.00 with 15% short-term incentive; AVP E&S Primary Casualty Underwriter $130,000.00–$215,000.00 with 20% short-term incentive.As an insurance company, Zurich is subject to 18 U.S. Code § 1033.A future with Zurich.
