We do everything from simulating airplane models, to developing virtual flight decks, to creating the next generation software simulation tools. The Boeing Company is looking for a Mid-Level or Senior Software Engineer to join the High Fidelity Virtual Cab (HFVC) team based in Seal Beach, California. This role will lead the development and integration of airplane models, simulations and hardware emulations using high fidelity Unreal game engine visualizations of Boeing aircrafts and flight decks. The ideal candidate is a leader, self-starter, enjoys working collaboratively with others, has a commitment to customer satisfaction and process improvement, and is successful working in a multi-program environment. This position will support the development of solutions to a wide range of complex problems that require ingenuity and innovation. The candidate should be adaptable to new development environments and eager to work with and learn new technologies. Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including; Mid-Level or Senior Software Engineers. Position Responsibilities Leads the design, architecture, and development of simulation models, simulation visualizations, virtual environments/platforms and frameworks to enhance test performance, safety, and durability of software and hardware systems throughout the entire product lifecycle. Partners with stakeholders to lead the review and identification of simulation requirements and dynamics of the systems being simulated. Leads the design, modeling, simulation, testing, and analysis to assess and optimize overall system performance and capabilities. Leads validation, verification, and refinement of simulation software code, models, simulations, test procedures and test environments, executing test procedures, documenting test results and modeling against real-world data, test data, benchmarks, or other similar models. Leads the documentation and maintenance of technical code, algorithms, specifications and descriptions of simulation models. Partners with cross functional engineering teams to lead integration of simulation software with hardware devices and systems. Leads implementing current and emerging technologies, tools, frameworks, and methods in the software engineering simulation environment. This position has been identified as a virtual opportunity and will not require the selected candidate to relocate. Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience) 5+ years of experience in C/C++ programming 5+ years experience in Linux, Windows, Microsoft Azure, AWS 5+ years of experience using GitLab and/or Jira Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience) Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited program in engineering, engineering technology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science 10 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience 5+ years of experience with scripting languages such as Perl or Python 5+ years working on either aircraft training systems or a modeling and simulation project Knowledge and ability to design, develop, integrate, apply, and test software models, simulations, framework environments, tools, and applications with higher order programming languages, assembly, and auto-code. API design, implementation, and testing. Real-time software architecture and design methodologies to synthesize models and simulation frameworks that meet real-time requirements. Knowledge of build and execution environments with hosts, processors, operating systems, and networks. Ability to build, integrate, test, and troubleshoot software components comprising simulation models and build/execution frameworks. Knowledge of verification, validation, certification, and qualification processes. Ability to design and develop software testing processes for modules of a software application. Knowledge of integration-testing tools. Ability to apply knowledge of 2D and/or 3D computer graphics to generate data representation and to communicate information. Familiarity with algorithms for image processing and visual analytics tools. Ability to integrate hardware and software components into demonstrations. Knowledge of cloud architecture, containerization technologies, and networking concepts including security best practices. Knowledge of specifications/standards and relationship to aircraft/product certification systems. Knowledge of multiple engineering disciplines and the ability to communicate with technical personnel across functions to evaluate technical information and issues impacting design, production, and support of products and services. Knowledge of how to derive and allocate requirements and show traceability throughout the product lifecycle. Knowledge of software architecture and design methodologies; ability to synthesize software architectures and designs that meet requirements, characteristics and constraints.
