Stronghold aims to deliver top-tier risk-adjusted returns through an investment framework characterized by rapid transaction velocity, deep technical expertise, creative financial structuring, and objective, algorithmic decision-making.Founded by Ryan Turner in 2016, Stronghold has deployed over $1.6 billion across more than 10 investment vehicles.The firm plans to expand its technology-intensive investment approach into various specialist real assets verticals, including:Oil & GasRenewablesSpecialty Real Estate (commercial, data centers, marinas)Telecommunications and Technology InfrastructureBillboards and FixturesMining & other commoditiesUtilitiesSecondariesPosition SummaryWe are seeking a strategic, execution-focused Vice President of Acquisitions to lead our efforts in acquiring oil and gas assets, mineral interests, and surface estates. This role involves managing a team of buyers and analysts, overseeing upstream transaction execution, and collaborating across departments to accelerate deal flow. The VP will be key in deal structuring, negotiations, resolving title issues, and implementing technology-driven process improvements.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and manage the acquisitions team to ensure efficient execution of high-volume mineral and surface acquisitions.Oversee negotiations of upstream transactions, including leases, mineral rights, and surface estates.Develop and manage contractual agreements aligned with firm goals.Coordinate with legal, land, finance, and operations teams to ensure clear titles and risk mitigation.Drive diligence efforts, evaluating titles, lease terms, surface agreements, and valuation metrics.Manage acquisition processes and systems to improve performance.Resolve complex title and contractual disputes efficiently.Support investment committee presentations with asset metrics and market context.Collaborate on post-close activities like financial reporting and lease compliance.Team Leadership & StrategyGuide and mentor the acquisitions team, setting performance and development goals.Enhance acquisition throughput and quality through process improvements.Assist in scaling processes and team structure as the platform grows.Skills and Requirements7+ years in oil and gas, mineral acquisitions, land management, or related sectors.Proven success in high-volume property transactions.Deep knowledge of title issues, lease structures, and negotiations.Strong leadership and team management skills.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; modeling experience a plus.Bachelor's degree required; JD, MBA, or CPL/Landman preferred.Highly organized, detail-oriented, capable of managing multiple transactions.High integrity, aligned with our core values of discipline and professionalism.Effective communication skills for presenting deals and resolving disputes.Why work with Stronghold?We are committed to creating a rewarding and satisfying workplace, fostering innovation, collaboration, and excellence.
