OverviewJob title: Project Estimator. The Project Estimator is responsible for the estimating of landscape construction, calculating material costs, and creating estimates for labor, material and equipment required to build the job. Project Estimator will work closely with Project Managers, Project Engineers, and Superintendents.Base payPay range: $90,000.00/hr - $120,000.00/hr. This range is provided by Jensen Landscape - A Monarch Landscape Company. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience — talk with your recruiter to learn more.Minimum qualificationsEducationBachelor’s degree in accounting, mathematics, construction, architecture, engineering, horticulture or other related field, or 4 years related field; or direct experience may be considered in lieu of minimum educational requirements.ExperienceMinimum 8 years of experience in commercial construction estimating. Proficient in estimating software platforms, including On-Screen Takeoff and Microsoft Office. Experience with estimating software platforms, including On-Screen Takeoff, B2W, Bluebeam. Proven track record of bid to contract conversions.License or CertificationAs required by state and federal law. Valid driver license issued by the state where employed. Professional Certification in Construction Estimating a plus.Specialized SkillsProfessional demeanor with staff and clients; ability to foster a positive and collaborative team environment; ability to prioritize workload in high-volume market; ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously within tight deadlines; ability to work independently; ability to mentor and train Estimators; excellent at prioritizing workload in high-volume market; ability to work on multiple complex projects; ability to hold self and team members accountable for deliverables; ability to understand wage determinations, union agreements and classifications; ability to understand Federal and Prevailing Wages; detail-oriented and highly organized; strong verbal and written communication skills.Essential dutiesManage estimating schedule in conjunction with Chief EstimatorAssist in managing department workflow and systemsEstimate larger and complex projectsAssist with hiring and recruiting of EstimatorsAssist Chief Estimator with Bid Calendar preparation and meetingsAssist Chief Estimator in scheduling lunch and learn vendors for continuous improvementAssist Chief Estimator in meaningful field outings and continuous improvementDemonstrate strong leadership skills; develop morale and recognize employee achievements; foster opportunities for professional developmentExtensive knowledge of company policies and procedures; provide recommendations for policy changesLead local safety initiative and trainingAssist with management of workflow and systemsTrain and mentor Estimators and TraineesBid Private and Public Works projectsCheck client planroom for updated documentsCollaborate with Sr. EstimatorUnderstand wage determinations for target marketsBid complex and large-scale projects including podium and rooftop workSign and adhere to Non-Disclosure Agreements on confidential projectsIncorporate client-issued documents into bid process (ITB, SOW, Bid Form, Schedule, Specifications, etc.)Build qualified vendor and subcontractor network for competitive pricingDescope subcontractor proposals and understand associated riskBuild cost estimates in bid and budget environmentsUnderstand appropriate markups per job type and scope of workAttend pre-bid and post-scope review meetings with clientsPackage projects, including all scopes of work, for management reviewProvide risk assessment and suggestions to alleviate risk exposureReview and contribute to value-added pricing opportunitiesComplete proposals and bid packages per predefined strategyAccountable for complete project estimate and successful operational turnoverBuild trust-based professional relationships rooted in our Core ValuesOther duties as assignedPhysical requirementsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
