SK&A is seeking a personable, team-focused, highly motivated Structural Engineer to join our Design team in the Washington, DC area. The ideal candidate will excel in a fast-paced environment, collaborate with project engineers, project managers, Principals, and other stakeholders to deliver sound, innovative, and cost-effective design solutions, and gain exposure to all project phases from onset.Primary ResponsibilitiesAssist Project Managers and Principals with the design of structural systems for commercial, institutional, and multi-family residential buildingsPrepare design calculations, specifications, and analysis of new structuresDevelop structural plans, details, and sections for construction drawings using software such as Revit, RamConcept, AutoCAD, etc.Prepare project specificationsPerform construction-related services including shop drawing reviews, responses to requests for information, periodic construction site observation, and occasional specialized structural inspectionsInteract with outside architectural teams to discuss issues arising during design and constructionQualificationsBachelor of Science with a concentration in Structural Engineering; MS preferred0-5 years’ experience in structural engineering consulting and design with mid to large commercial and multi-family housing projectsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsExperience with Building Information Modeling using Revit StructureAble to build rapport with clients, co-workers, and sub-contractorsOther Compensation and BenefitsThis position is eligible for overtime pay at the hourly rate (straight time) and discretionary semi-annual bonuses.
