OverviewSerco has an immediate opening for an electrical or mechanical engineer with submarine power systems expertise and detailed design experience to support our active contract with the U.S. Navy in the Washington, DC area.The NAVSEA 05Z5 Directorate and PMS 351 Program office are responsible for the design and development of submarine power systems and for coordinating resources for design, construction, and testing of submarines, including COLUMBIA-class and SSN(X) programs. These programs are major defense acquisition efforts with significant scope and political importance.ResponsibilitiesSupport the design and development of the CLB IPS electrical system, including but not limited to design and implementation of electrical power and distribution systems.Develop and integrate control systems for all power components.Design and development of the Turbine Generator, with an emphasis on the generator end.Design and integration of control systems for the Turbine Generator.Collaborate closely with Naval Reactors, PMS 397, the shipbuilder, and component vendors to define and meet detailed design requirements.Ensure all production units meet established design criteria and maintain high quality standards.QualificationsA current or active Secret clearance.Bachelor/'s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer, or other engineering field (Physics, for example). Extensive NAVSEA or submarine experience may replace the degree requirements.3 years of experience in the design of military or commercial power systems.Articulate in both oral and written formats.Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).Provide rigorous, responsive technical acumen with a collaborative and amiable approach.Ability to travel 10% of the time.Additional experience and skills5 years of experience in the maintenance, operation, and issue resolution of power systems.Naval Nuclear Propulsion experience on VIRGINIA-class submarines, at a Prototype or Nuclear shipyard.3 years of experience with magnetic bearings as applied to power systems.Articulate in both oral and written formats.Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).Collaborative, technically adept, and proactive in problem-solving.If you are interested in supporting and working with our military and sailors and a passionate Serco team, submit your application now for immediate consideration.
