Job Description

Overview Section Chief, Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (NMMI)The Department of Radiology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC), an affiliate of Harvard Medical School, seeks a superb candidate to serve as the Section Chief of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging. The new leader will drive research, education, and clinical missions of the section and oversee expanding clinical service lines in cardiac, theragnostic, and oncologic imaging. The Section currently comprises three faculty members who participate in clinical and teaching activities, multidisciplinary meetings, and a shared NMMI call pool. The division performs the full range of nuclear medicine exams (approximately 8,000 studies per year) at BIDMC's main campus in Boston and at affiliated community sites. Current downtown facilities include four gamma cameras and gamma camera computers, a dedicated nuclear cardiac camera, two SPECT/CT scanners, and one PET/CT scanner. Studies are read at BIDMC in Boston and remotely via home workstations. Current research areas include identification of tumor-targeting biomarkers, lymphoscintigraphy for a large lymphedema program, and dosimetry related to hepatic yttrium micro-bead delivery. The department will participate in a new clinical collaboration between Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, BIDMC, and HMFP to establish New England’s only free-standing adult inpatient cancer hospital, aiming to deliver transformational, precision medicine in an environment dedicated to cancer care. Responsibilities Provide leadership for the Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging section, including research, education, and clinical missions. Oversee expanding clinical service lines in cardiac, theragnostic, and oncologic imaging. Manage the clinical division or equivalent operational responsibilities and participate in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows. Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams and participate in multidisciplinary meetings. Coordinate with affiliated sites and ensure high-quality patient care and accurate interpretation of studies. Qualifications Board-certified by the American Board of Nuclear Medicine. Eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Fellowship training in nuclear medicine is preferred. Experience in managing a clinical division or equivalent operational leadership. Eligible for appointment at the Assistant or Associate Professor level at Harvard Medical School; salary and academic rank commensurate with qualifications and experience.
