OverviewThe Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) is the leading association for public sector waste and resource management professionals across North America. With 47 Chapters spanning the U.S., Canada, the Caribbean, and the Pacific Basin, SWANA connects a diverse network of industry professionals committed to advancing from waste management to resource management. We support our members through technical education, training, credentialing, and research, while also advocating for the essential role our industry plays in protecting public health, supporting the economy, and building sustainable communities.Role OverviewThe Member Engagement Manager drives SWANA’s membership growth, retention, and engagement through innovative campaigns and meaningful member relationships. This role combines strong writing skills, relationship-building, and data-driven insights to demonstrate the value of membership and sustain revenue through effective outreach, personalized communications, and community engagement. The successful candidate is a collaborative team player who thrives on building deep partnerships and leveraging those connections to deliver member value and drive revenue growth.What You/'ll Do:Recruitment & RenewalDevelop and execute membership recruitment campaigns to attract new members across all SWANA segments.Create and manage renewal campaigns that highlight the value of membership and encourage timely renewals.Monitor membership trends and retention rates, recommending adjustments to campaigns to achieve or exceed annual goals.Work within membership database to pull necessary lists/reports and monitor member data.Engagement & Community ManagementDesign and implement member engagement campaigns that encourage active participation in SWANA programs, events, and professional development opportunities.Manage our online community, MySWANA, to foster meaningful discussion, moderate content, and ensure members connect with peers and resources.Partner with internal teams to integrate community activity with broader engagement strategies.Messaging & CommunicationsWork with marketing to craft compelling communications that inform, engage, and inspire members.Ensure messaging is consistent, professional, and aligned with SWANA’s strategic priorities.Personalize outreach to strengthen member relationships and increase response rates.Revenue Growth & OperationsLead outreach initiatives and campaigns to maintain and grow membership revenue.Collaborate with finance and operations to manage renewal cycles, forecasting, invoicing, and engagement tracking.Identify and recommend opportunities for non-dues revenue growth in collaboration with colleagues.Track and analyze campaign performance to continuously refine strategies and improve results.Why SWANA?Be part of an evolution: Help shape the next chapter of SWANA’s transformation from waste to resource management.Meaningful mission: Contribute to sustainability, safety, and innovation across communities and industry.Purpose-driven team: Work with professionals aligned around SWANA’s strategic pillars: safety, sustainability, professional development, and member value.Work with flexibility: Hybrid-remote options plus a benefits package that includes generous leave, medical choices (including employer-funded HSA), and employer-paid life, disability, and long-term care insurance.How to ApplySubmit your resume, cover letter, and salary expectations to . Experience with Impexium/re:Members highly preferred.Proven ability to build and sustain relationships with stakeholders at all levels.Strong writing skills with the ability to craft persuasive and engaging messages.Demonstrated success in meeting or exceeding membership, sales, or fundraising goals.Creative and analytical thinker with experience designing and evaluating fortable working collaboratively within a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.Ability to travel up to 10%.Preferred QualificationsExperience in an association or membership-based organization.Familiarity with credentialing, awards, or membership recognition programs.Knowledge of or interest in sustainability, solid waste, or environmental services industries.Experience with online community management and preferred experience with HubSpot. #J-18808-Ljbffr
