OverviewSenior DevOps Engineer (Secret Clearance) at Appian UK. This role reports as a technical leader within our Federal Customer Success team, advising Appian’s clients and supporting the installation, operation, and scaling of the Appian platform and business process applications.Location: McLean, VA (HQ). The role emphasizes in-person collaboration to foster culture and teamwork, with expectations to be in the office 4–5 days per week. In-person interactions with customers are a priority, alongside strong collaboration across teams.ResponsibilitiesProvide exceptional customer interaction (verbal, written, face-to-face).System administration experience with IaaS solutions (e.g., Amazon Web Services, Google Compute Engine, Microsoft Azure) and experience administering an on-prem Appian environment is a plus.Administrative experience with one or more RDMS platforms (e.g., MySQL, Oracle, DB2, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MariaDB).Programming or scripting experience (e.g., Java, JavaScript, Bash, Perl, Ruby, C#, PHP).Kubernetes experience is a plus.Basic QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Information Technology, or similar field.Approximately 3–5 years of experience as an IT systems administrator building, maintaining, scripting, patching, and managing hosts, databases, and interconnected Cloud services.Government clearance at the Secret level or higher.U.S. Citizenship required for Public Sector roles; ability to maintain Secret or Top Secret pTIA Security+ certification required prior to or shortly after onboarding.Tools and ResourcesTraining and Development: onboarding-focused skills training, mentorship, and the First-Friend program.Growth Opportunities: leadership program for new managers, Appian University, skills-based training, and tuition munity: inclusive culture with eight employee-led affinity groups for networking and outreach.About AppianAppian is a software company that automates business processes.
