OverviewJoin to apply for the IT Engineer role at Etched.Etched is building AI chips that are hard-coded for individual model architectures. Our first product (Sohu) supports transformers with significantly higher throughput and lower latency than GPUs. Etched ASICs enable products that would be difficult or impossible with GPUs, such as real-time video generation models and advanced chain-of-thought reasoning agents.Job Summary: As an IT Engineer, you’ll be the key to ensuring everyone can perform at their highest level. You’ll maintain a high-performance engineering and operations environment, enable cutting-edge chip development workflows, and drive day-to-day IT operations to keep teams moving quickly and securely. Key Responsibilities End-to-End IT Support: provide hands-on IT delivery and support for the entire firm, including ASIC design teams, software and platform engineering, business operations, and scale-out computing teams. Lead onboarding and offboarding processes to ensure seamless access aligned with engineering and leadership workflows. Maintain robust documentation of IT assets, systems, access protocols, and ticket workflows. Device & Endpoint Management: manage on-site and remote laptops/desktops and networking equipment with emphasis on security and remote manageability. Deploy and administer MDM and MAM for Mac and Windows devices. Implement and maintain antivirus, antimalware, EDR, and XDR solutions. Drive hardware procurement, staging, imaging, and maintenance for development and operations teams. Identity & Access Management: implement SSO across core services (Okta experience a bonus). Automate user provisioning/deprovisioning using Rippling, Okta, Google Workspace, and FreeIPA. Enforce role-based access controls and audit trails to meet security and compliance standards. Network & Security: design, deploy, and maintain wired/wireless networks; manage VPNs; administer firewalls and network segmentation. Automation & Operational Excellence: develop automation scripts (Python, Bash, PowerShell); integrate monitoring/alerting; uphold SOC 2/ISO 27001 compliance where applicable. Collaboration & Vendor Management: coordinate with external vendors and partners; work with engineering, security, and operations teams to align IT goals with business needs. Representative Projects: manage mixed-OS environments, secure network infrastructure, endpoint lifecycle systems, compute resources for simulations, and scalable onboarding/workflows. Qualifications & What You May Be a Good Fit For 3+ years in IT support or engineering with macOS, Windows, and Linux experience. Excellent problem-solving skills with ownership mindset. Experience in a fast-paced startup environment. Proven experience with endpoint management tools (e.g., Jump, Jamf, Intune, Kandji). Hands-on expertise with enterprise VPNs, wireless networking, and zero-trust models. Strong background in EDR/XDR platforms (e.g., CrowdStrike, SentinelOne). Scripting/automation skills (Python, Bash, PowerShell). Knowledge of security best practices, incident response, and IAM. Strong networking skills (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, firewalls).
