The RoleAs an Autonomy Engineer on the Air Combat Autonomy team at EpiSci, your role is pivotal, entailing dynamic endeavors that encompass designing and actualizing architectures and systems across a spectrum of Tactical autonomy applications. You will craft groundbreaking, hybrid autonomous algorithms that redefine the boundaries of both commercial and defense applications, building superior systems that empower our military with unrivaled capabilities. Write software that operates real autonomous aircraft systems including F16 fighter jets, group 1-5 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), as well as simulated models to accomplish tactical military missions Build, leverage, and improve robotic autonomy software architectures that are tested and deployed on real systems to accomplish military missions Implement, leverage and improve state-of-the-art unmanned aerial system (UAS) autonomy solutions to sense, make sense, decide, and act in tactical military missions Collaborate with DoD warfighter domain experts and 3rd party UAS vehicle vendors to develop and integrate autonomy software onto OEM hardware Implement and optimize autonomy algorithms for tasks such as sensor processing, track propagation and correlation, environment mapping, mission and trajectory planning, reasoning over discrete or uncertain states, optimization, learning, and control theory We’re looking for someone who has Bachelor's degree in computer science/related engineering field 2+ years of hands-on experience developing software for autonomous robotic systems Experience in developing software for autonomous robotic systems High proficiency in Python or C++ programming languages Strong functional, procedural, data-oriented, and object-oriented programming experience employing clean code principles and good design patterns Travel RequirementsMust be willing to travel as projects require; estimated average travel is once every other month for between 2 days up to 1 week (~10%) Security RequirementsMust be a U.S. CitizenMust hold or be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance For more information about U.S. security clearances: click here. Nice to have Ability to use data visualization and debugging tools to support autonomous agent development Experience developing in Docker and containerized development environments, using Linux-based operating systems (e.g., RHEL, Ubuntu), source control systems, and artifact registries Proficiency in the Rust and C++ (version 17 and later) programming languages Experience working with defense modeling and simulation tools such as AFSIM and NGTS Experience working with mission and autonomy architecture frameworks such as OMS UCI and ROS CompensationCompensation at Applied Intuition for eligible roles includes base salary, equity, and benefits. Base salary is a single component of the total compensation package, which may also include equity in the form of options and/or restricted stock units, comprehensive health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance coverage, 401k retirement benefits with employer match, learning and wellness stipends, and paid time off. Note that benefits are subject to change and may vary based on jurisdiction of employment. Applied Intuition pay ranges reflect the minimum and maximum intended target base salary for new hire salaries for the position. The actual base salary offered will be influenced by experience, credentials & certifications, educational attainment, skill level requirements, interview performance, and the level and scope of the position. The base salary range for this full-time position in the listed location is: $120,000 to $180,000 USD annually. Don’t meet every single requirement?
