You/'ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop scalable APIs, data processing pipelines, and backend infrastructure that enable AI-powered agents and human users to work in harmony. This is a hybrid role with regular onsite workdays in our San Jose, CA office strongly preferred. Other locations in the U.S. will be considered.ReportingWho You’ll Report To: Director of Engineering, AI Agent StudioYour ResponsibilitiesBuilding robust REST APIs, services, and backend infrastructure to support business applicationsWorking cross-functionally with Front-End Engineers, Product Managers, QA, and Support teams to deliver end-to-end featuresWriting clean, maintainable, and scalable code. Participating in design and code reviews to uphold engineering excellenceIdentifying bottlenecks and improving the performance, reliability, and scalability of existing systemsRecommending and adopting modern backend technologies, frameworks, and processes to improve development speed and maintainabilitySharing best practices and supporting junior developers through guidance and reviewsQualifications4+ years of experience in back-end developmentProficient in Java and one or more server-side languages/frameworks (e.g., Node.js, Python)Strong knowledge of RESTful API design and microservicesStrong experience with Spring framework, including REST APIs, security, data access, and configurationExperience with relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Elasticsearch)Exposure to message brokers like Kafka or ActiveMQUnderstanding of client-server model, authentication, and authorizationFamiliarity with CI/CD, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)Experience with automation tools, observability stacks, or security best practices a plusKey CompetenciesSystem Architecture & Scalability – designing robust, scalable backend systemsAPI Design & Integration – building secure, high-performance APIsPerformance & Reliability Engineering – identifying bottlenecks and ensuring observable, resilient servicesSecurity & Data Integrity – secure coding practices and data governanceCollaboration & Engineering Leadership – strong communicator and mentorCompensation & BenefitsThe base salary range for this position is $155,000 - $180,000 per year.
