This role is responsible for overseeing a team of tax preparers, managing strategic tax and accounting projects, and delivering high-value client services throughout the year. We are seeking a candidate who is not only smart and analytical but also humble, curious, and eager to learn and grow within the team. The ideal person embraces new challenges with enthusiasm, values collaboration, and remains open to feedback and continuous improvement.This position is structured as a hybrid role, requiring a minimum of two days per week in the office outside of tax season. During tax season, the in-office commitment increases to at least three days per week to ensure optimal collaboration and workflow efficiency.ResponsibilitiesTax LeadershipSupervise a team of 5–10 tax preparers to ensure timely and accurate filing of 1040s.Review complex returns and provide guidance on tax law interpretation.Respond to IRS letters and coordinate resolution strategies.Year-Round Tax AdvisoryDeliver ongoing tax planning services to individuals and small businesses.Work directly with high-value clients to deliver personalized tax strategies and proactive planning.Lead client education initiatives (e.g., webinars, newsletters, planning sessions).Conduct client meetings both in-office and online to maintain strong relationships and ensure service continuity.Take prospecting meetings with potential clients to assess fit and introduce firm services.Opportunity to grow into a firm-wide leadership role with influence over strategic direction and service innovation.Training & Process OptimizationDevelop and deliver training modules for staff on tax topics and software.Create and maintain SOPs for tax preparation, client communication, and document handling.Accounting Services (Monthly)Manage 10–15 monthly accounting clients, including bookkeeping oversight, financial statement preparation, and collaboration with CAS team to ensure timely and accurate reporting.Strategic ProjectsLead firm-wide initiatives such as tech integration, AI-driven tax optimization, and client portal enhancements.Champion the use of AI to streamline tax preparation, identify planning opportunities, and enhance client deliverables.Participate in business development efforts and support top-tier client relationships.Performance ExpectationsMaintain a minimum of 100–120 billable hours per month.Generate consistent revenue through tax advisory, accounting services, and strategic consulting.Contribute to firm growth through client retention, upselling, and operational improvements.QualificationsCPA or EA preferred; strong background in personal tax and small business accounting.Minimum 5 years of experience in tax advisory.Proven leadership and team management skills.Excellent communication and client service orientation.Familiarity with Drake, QBO, QBD, and workflow fortable with emerging technologies and excited to leverage AI tools to improve tax workflows, client service, and operational efficiency.Expert in 1040 and 1041 forms; able to handle complex tax scenarios and conduct detailed tax research.Skilled at building strong client relationships and addressing client needs effectively.Our Mission and ValuesAt Monotelo, our mission is to serve our clients with expert financial guidance and strategic insights to empower their growth and long-term success.
