Job Description

OverviewPosition: Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at CareSTL Health. The CFO directs the organization’s financial planning and accounting practices, serves on the Executive Leadership Team, and oversees the Fiscal Department. The role involves budgeting, investment management, compliance, and collaboration with leaders to align financial strategy with patient-centered care.ResponsibilitiesAssist the CEO, Officers and key staff in developing and implementing the health center’s mission and strategic plan.Represent the organization in required meetings with affiliated agencies and supervise the Fiscal Department (accounting, billing and registration).Provide the Executive Leadership Team with operating budgets and cost analysis support; ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and contractual guidelines.Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard financial assets; oversee federal awards and programs; coordinate with independent auditors and ensure GAAP compliance.Oversee fiscal reporting activities, including cash flow management, revenue/expense and balance sheet reporting, and budgeting for contracts and grants.Lead risk management, QA&I processes for Finance, and remove financial barriers to achieving quality in medical care; report to internal and external committees as required.Attend Board and subcommittee meetings, monitor banking activities, and oversee accounting, registration and billing activities.QualificationsEducationBachelor’s Degree in AccountingMaster’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related fieldCPA preferred but not requiredExperienceMinimum of 10 years in accounting environment (required)Minimum of 5 years of executive financial management experience (required)Experience with investment management (preferred)Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesStrong verbal and written communication; team building and conflict resolutionAbility to align departmental goals with organizational mission and to integrate new health servicesProficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with accounting programs and project management systemsKnowledge of federal, state, local regulations and contractual guidelines; ability to interpret legislation and ensure complianceAnalytical and problem-solving abilities; strong budgeting, strategic planning and leadership skillsAbility to manage multiple tasks, delegate appropriately, and maintain high standards of quality and accuracyTransportation and SupervisoryReliable transportationThe CFO supervises the Director of Accounting, Director of Revenue, and Financial Analyst AssistantAdditional Eligibility QualificationsCopy of Bachelor’s Degree or Official TranscriptsCurrent Registration with the Missouri Family Care Safety RegistryPosition Type and HoursFull-time; typically Monday–Friday during normal business hoursBenefits and NoticeFull benefits packagePublic Service Loan ForgivenessClinic hours are Monday–Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.11 paid holidays per year*We believe that health care is right and not a privilege.
