Overview Mondelēz International is looking for a Public and Government Affairs (PGA) Manager to join its DC-based Global PGA team. In this role, you will help advocate for the company’s interests, enhance its reputation, and engage policy makers and influencers to shape government measures and initiatives material to its business. Mondelēz empowers people to snack right in over 150 countries around the world. We are leading the future of snacking with iconic brands such as Oreo, LU, Tate's Bake Shop, and Ritz biscuits; Cadbury Dairy Milk, Milka, and Toblerone chocolate; Swedish Fish and Sour Patch Kids candy; and Clif and Grenade energy bars. Overarching Role Support Mondelēz’s Vice President for Global PGA and partner with: other members of the Global PGA team, BU Corporate and Government Affairs (CGA) teams in multiple regions, and other functions and sub-functions (e.g., Communications, Legal, Scientific and Regulatory Affairs, Nutrition, and Impact/Sustainability). Assist in execution of workstreams in the global PGA work program. Manage CGA’s share point, BRIEFING ROOM, and socialize and ensure the accessibility of global PGA assets (e.g., playbooks, tool kits, and templates). Help represent Mondelēz and articulate its policy positions externally. Responsibilities Policy/Political Insight Partner with others on Mondelēz’s global and local CGA teams and external agencies in tracking the development and implementation of government measures in three priority policy areas: Nutrition, health, and well-being (government rules aimed at curbing consumption of certain types of foods): restrictions on marketing/advertising, placement, promotion, or sale, targeted indirect taxes, front-of-pack nutrition labeling requirements, and additive restrictions Sustainability: ESG (environment, social, governance) disclosure mandates, supply chain due diligence requirements, labor- and environment-related market access restrictions, and taxes, bans, and extended producer responsibility schemes on plastic packaging waste License to operate: cross-border trade measures, including tariffs, taxes, price controls, boycotts, sanctions and countersanctions, investment incentives, and labor disciplines Distill and cascade media reports/articles, government publications, and think tank and trade association briefing papers on policy and political developments relevant to Mondelēz’s business. Advocacy Support and External Engagement Support local CGA teams’ PGA activities, including by: gathering evidence to support their policy positions, researching different legislative/regulatory approaches governments take in a specific policy area, and monitoring regional and global initiatives (government-to-government, private-sector, and public-private partnerships) relevant to Mondelēz’s policy agenda. Help prepare for and participate in engagements with: Executive officials and legislators, international organization officials, and thought leaders in think tanks and other expert bodies. Actively participate in and help represent Mondelēz in: trade associations, business coalitions, and other fora. PGA Enablers and Multimarket Projects Assist in socializing assets developed at global level (e.g., playbooks, tool kits, and templates) for enabling PGA work at local level. Partner with other members of Global PGA team in executing multimarket projects (workstreams with clearly defined missions and/or deliverables applicable in multiple BUs). Internal Networks Participate in internal meetings, including of Global PGA team, Global PGA Community of Practice, and Global PGA team with BU CGA leads. Presentations and Other Written Materials Fashion PowerPoint presentations on PGA topics. Draft background papers and talking points. Qualifications and Skills At least seven years of government (public sector) and/or government affairs (private sector) work experience. Graduate degree in international relations, business, and/or economic or sustainability policy. Knowledge of policy issues relevant to the food industry. Excellent communication skills (written and verbal). Ability to distill complex and lengthy material into simple, succinct summaries. Time-management and priority-setting skills, results-orientation, and attention to detail. Collaborative and proactive way of working, good people skills, and “can-do” attitude. Experience working with colleagues from a variety of cultures and in cross-functional teams. Facility with PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, and Excel. The base salary range for this position is $117,400 to $161,425; the exact salary depends on experience, skills, education, and budget. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for participation in a bonus program with potential for overachievement based on performance and company results.
