Join to apply for the Package Engineering Manager role at Vertex PharmaceuticalsOverviewThe Package Engineering Manager will deliver reliably on independent activities within Technical Operations. This role will provide technical support in packaging and process operations, working with internal and external cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment. The Package Engineering Manager will support completion of project activities and work directly with external Contract Manufacturers.Key Duties And ResponsibilitiesMaintains effective relationships between Vertex and key suppliers of materials, technology, and manufacturing resourcesProvides technical support on packaging processes to Package Engineering and cross functional teamsAuthor and/or review validation and change control documents such as master batch records, protocols, reports and change requestsSupports packaging projects and process improvement efforts, validations, equipment installation, IQ/OQ/PQ protocol development and executionParticipates on cross-functional CMC sub-teamsEvaluates process performance to identify and lead continuous improvement activities for commercial productsSupports resolution of quality investigationsWorks effectively with multiple stakeholders including Pharmaceutical Sciences, Regulatory Affairs, Project Management, Supply Chain, Quality, and Marketing to meet project timelines and objectivesActs as a resource in the assigned technical areaMay lead aspects of technical transfer and process validation activities; responsible for authoring and reviewing packaging qualification and validation documentsWill require travel to contract manufacturing plants to support process performance or to troubleshoot manufacturing issuesSupports the responsibilities of the technical operations team in projects related to packaging technology, sustainability, and industry activityExperience or certification in LEAN and/or Six Sigma practices is a plusKnowledge And SkillsAbility to travel domestic and international (Approximately 25%)Good knowledge of cGMP’s and associated CMC regulatory considerations in a pharmaceutical environmentFundamental understanding and application of validation processes (IQ/OQ/PQ/PV)Ability and flexibility to work globally in a virtual work environmentExcellent project management experienceSolid communication, analytical, problem solving and collaboration skills to exchange complex information with others in complex situationsDemonstrated ability to manage multiple projects concurrently, and flexibility to accommodate changes in responsibilities or project prioritiesEducation And ExperienceBachelor's degree in Packaging, Chemical, Mechanical, Material or Industrial Engineering, or a related fieldTypically requires 4 years of experience or the equivalent combination of education and experiencePay Range$120,300 - $180,400Disclosure StatementThe range provided is based on what we believe is a reasonable estimate for the base salary pay range for this job at the time of posting. This role is eligible for an annual bonus and annual equity awards. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay, in accordance with federal and state requirements. Actual base salary pay will be based on a number of factors, including skills, competencies, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
