OverviewThis is a strategic and hands-on leadership role overseeing Electrical, Mechanical, and Test Engineering, along with Document Control and Configuration Management. The Director ensures alignment between hardware engineering execution and company goals for product development, certification, and innovation in avionics.This is a career defining role for an engineering leader who thrives at the intersection of hands on innovation and strategic execution. This range is provided by Akkodis.Core ResponsibilitiesTechnical LeadershipDrive the hardware product roadmap in line with company vision and emerging aviation markets.Act as the final technical authority on hardware decisions.Personally contribute to system architecture, design reviews, and problem resolution.Lead cross-functional integration (Systems, Software, Quality, Regulatory, Flight Ops).Team ManagementLead, grow, and mentor multi-disciplinary engineering teams.Set performance goals and KPIs; foster continuous improvement.Promote cross-training, collaboration, and innovation across all hardware teams.Product Lifecycle OversightManage projects end-to-end, from concept ? certification ? production.Ensure regulatory compliance (DO-160, DO-254, TSO, STC, TC).Engage in design reviews, test plan development, and flight testing support.Document & Configuration ManagementOversee engineering documentation, revision control, and change management.Ensure traceability, regulatory documentation rigor, and production readiness.Cross-Functional & External EngagementRepresent hardware engineering in executive meetings and business development terface directly with customers, regulatory bodies, and strategic partners.Align hardware development with customer needs and pilot workflows.Experience10+ years of engineering experience, including 5+ in leadership.Proven success leading hardware teams through certification and production releases.Experience with system integration, environmental qualification, and EMI testing.Familiar with FAA certifications: TSO, STC, TC, DO-160, DO-254.Technical BreadthStrong grasp of electrical, mechanical, and test engineering principles.Able to make tradeoffs across disciplines (e.g., thermal, layout, reliability, cost).Understands the full stack: schematic, layout, thermal, EMI, and test fortable rolling up sleeves for design reviews and problem-solving.EducationBachelor/'s in Electrical, Mechanical, or related Engineering.Preferred: Master/'s in Engineering or Business.PreferredPilot license or strong understanding of cockpit environments.Experience in business or general aviation, or defense/aerospace.Familiarity with HMI/UX for flight decks.Equal Opportunity Employer/Veterans/DisabledBenefit offerings available for our associates include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, additional voluntary benefits, an EAP program, commuter benefits, and a 401K plan.
