Controls Engineer

OverviewMacDonald-Miller Facility Solutions is seeking a Controls Engineer to read, analyze, and interpret plans, submittals, mechanical specifications, contract documents, and control drawings. You will perform hardware engineering, software engineering, and network-level commissioning for Building Automation Systems on both new construction and existing system retrofit projects. The role reports to John Viele, BAS Controls Engineering Manager, and is part of a collaborative team supporting various projects to grow the business.ResponsibilitiesRead, analyze, and interpret plans, submittals, mechanical specifications, contract documents, and control drawingsPerform hardware engineering, software engineering, and network-level commissioning for Building Automation Systems on both new construction and retrofit projectsInterpret project financials and apply value engineering concepts to understand cost impactsDevelop and implement cost-effective controls engineering practices while delivering excellent customer service and ensuring compliance with state, local, and federal regulationsCommunicate and present information to management, customers, and field operations teamsDevelop and/or write sequences of operations and procedure manualsYour BackgroundProficiency in Microsoft Office products (Windows, Word, Excel)Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Industrial Automation & Controls (Mechanical or Electrical preferred), or an equivalent qualification from a two-year college or technical school3–5 years of experience with AutoCAD, AutoCAD MEP, or similar design toolsExperience with installation and operation of commercial HVAC systemsFamiliarity with commercial building construction, renovation, and retrofit projectsPersonal AttributesA hard worker with a strong work ethicContinuous learner staying ahead of industry standards and technologiesStrong communicator who is goal-orientedMotivationWillingness to learn and solve challenges independentlyAbility to thrive in a lean, results-driven environmentAppreciation for a transparent, innovative, and supportive workplaceBenefits & CompensationCompensation: $80,000 to $105,000 annuallyMedical, dental, vision coverage for employees (dependent coverage available with shared premium)401k retirement plan with company matchingPTO, holidays, and vacation benefitsDisability income protection (short and long-term)Life insurance for employees and dependentsWellness Program and Employee Assistance ProgramWork LocationSeattle HQ office (17930 International Blvd, SeaTac, WA 98188) with easy access to SeaTac International Airport, secured parking, and renovated facilities.
