OverviewJob Title : Principal Mainframe Platform EngineerLocation : Jersey City, NJ / Coppell, TX / Tampa, FL / Boston, MA – HYBRID- 3X a week on site (tues/weds and 1 flex day)Duration : 12 Month+Urgent openings with the team- needs for additional support:Role: Mainframe Engineer (2-3 openings) – Levels: Mid level (5-6 + years) and Principal (8-10+ years) – Open to different levels of experienceLocation: Jersey City, NJ / Coppell, TX / Tampa, FL / Boston, MA – HYBRID- 3X a week on site (tues/weds and 1 flex day)Interview process: 2 rounds- video with the hiring team, 2nd round will be in person ideally (video is also fine if needed) however, the candidate will need to go onsite if hired for security reasons.The managers are looking for Mainframe Infrastructure/Platform Engineers- not looking for developers, they will not touch applications unless its an install. They need z/OS Systems Programming experience to support installs, upgrades, and ongoing maintenance in a multi-system (sysplex) environment. Sysplex experience is a plus, but not required – the main thing is strong hands-on system programming skills with z/OS, SMP/E, JES2, automation tools, and hardware/software installs. It’s not a COBOL developer role – this is about keeping the mainframe systems running smoothly, implementing upgrades, and supporting enterprise-scale operations.The Principal Mainframe Platform Engineer is responsible for design analysis, documentation, testing, implementation and support for the z/OS Operating System, Third Party Products, UNIX System Services environment, and System Automation. Requires experience with z/OS, JES2, USS internals, SMP/E installations, and major vendor product knowledge. Skills in creating and maintaining Web sites using both common and advanced Web programming languages is a plus.Responsibilitieso Perform design analysis, documentation, testing, implementation and support for the infrastructure mainframe systems environmento Install and manage mainframe software deployments in a highly granular SYSPLEX environmento Maintain high quality and consistency of systems software and automation processeso Enhance reporting and automation using supported mainframe tools such as JCL, REXX, SAS, SQL, PYTHON and Java/Javascripto Complete assignments by due dates, without detailed supervisiono Participate in team on-call coverage rotation, which includes tactical systems administration and provide weekend supporto Aligns risk and control processes into day-to-day responsibilities to monitor and mitigate risk; escalates appropriatelyo Participate in disaster recovery tests and data center rotation exercises (on weekends)o Actively engage in strategic goals for mainframe engineering, the department and organizationo Provide input and follow-through for continuous improvement to mainframe systems engineering processes and procedureso Maintain and enhance hardware configuration via HCD and perform basic HMC functionso Perform level 1 network troubleshooting for mainframe applicationsTalents / Qualificationso Serves as a trusted coach or mentor within the organization.o Communicates openly keeping everyone across the organization informed.o A minimum of 5 years System Programmers experience in an IBM z/OS environment.o Knowledge in REXX and Automation programming experience.o Ability to identify and manage IT risko COBOL and C/C++ knowledge a pluso Strong background in mainframe systems automation planning and designo Working knowledge of performance monitoring tools, especially Mainviewo Working knowledge of z/OS UNIX System Services in z/OS environmentso HTML, Java, Java Script, C, C++ and UNIX shell programming a plus #J-18808-Ljbffr
