Job DescriptionJob DescriptionPosition OverviewWe are seeking a strategic and experienced General Counsel – Litigation to lead our legal function focused on litigation matters within a dynamic multi-family property management environment. This role will oversee a team of three paralegals and manage relationships with outside counsel, ensuring efficient, cost-effective, and compliant legal operations. The ideal candidate will bring deep litigation expertise, a proactive approach to risk management, and a passion for building scalable legal processes.Key ResponsibilitiesLitigation ManagementLead and manage all litigation matters, including landlord-tenant disputes, employment claims, and general liability casesServe as primary liaison with outside counsel, ensuring alignment with company goals and budgetDevelop litigation strategies and oversee case progress, settlements, and trial preparationTeam Leadership & DevelopmentSupervise and mentor a team of three paralegals, fostering professional growth and high performanceProvide ongoing training and guidance to ensure legal team efficiency and compliance with best practicesProcess Design & ImplementationCreate and implement internal legal department workflows, policies, and procedures to streamline operationsEstablish documentation standards, case tracking systems, and reporting mechanismsRisk Mitigation & ComplianceAdvise executive leadership on legal risks and mitigation strategiesEnsure compliance with federal, state, and local laws affecting property management and housingCross-Functional CollaborationPartner with operations, HR, and finance teams to support business initiatives and resolve legal issuesProvide legal training to internal stakeholders as neededQualificationsJuris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school; active California Bar membership requiredMinimum 8 years of litigation experience, preferably in real estate, housing, or property managementProven experience managing legal teams and outside counselDemonstrated success in designing and implementing internal legal processesStrong leadership, communication, and organizational skillsAbility to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environmentPreferred ExperiencePrior in-house counsel experience in a property management or real estate companyFamiliarity with landlord-tenant law, fair housing regulations, and employment lawExperience mentoring junior legal staff and building team capabilitiesCompany DescriptionWe are a leading firm in the asset & property management industry, dedicated to delivering exceptional service and maximizing the value of our clients' pany DescriptionWe are a leading firm in the asset & property management industry, dedicated to delivering exceptional service and maximizing the value of our clients' assets. #J-18808-Ljbffr
