In this role, you’ll deliver accurate assessments of medical and financial risk while providing a best-in-class customer experience. The successful candidate will contribute to a high-performing team that provides critical, value-added services to top-tier clients, while supporting innovation and excellence in underwriting practices.Responsibilities:Evaluate complex life insurance risks by assessing medical, non-medical, and financial factors to determine optimal risk classification for facultative cases.Drive underwriting excellence by consistently applying Gen Re and client criteria aligned with pricing and productivity goals.Deliver proactive client support, offering tailored solutions and flagging potential challenges to management. Provide exceptional service that positions Gen Re as a leader in underwriting and helps attract and retain top-tier clients. Engage with clients to understand their evolving needs and industry trends. Become a trusted expert in client procedures and service mit to continuous learning by staying ahead of medical advancements, participating in Gen Re’s Q&A sessions, and attending internal and external training seminars.Contribute cross-functionally to drive enhancements, participating in committees, sharing ideas, and contributing to strategic initiatives that elevate our underwriting capabilities. Support key UW initiatives as needed, contributing to process improvements and operational excellence.Role Qualifications and Experience:2+ years of individual life reinsurance underwriting experience preferred.Direct company, brokerage underwriting experience will be considered, as well as strong medical underwriting/impaired risk skills from a non-brokerage environment.Demonstrated ability to underwrite business that entails highly substandard multi-impairment type cases in a fast-paced underwriting environment.Exceptional attention to detail, ability to organize and present complex scenarios, and skill to apply an appropriate mortality rating independently and in collaboration with Underwriting Management and Medical staff.Ability to think critically, problem solve using data to drive toward resolution.Strong client-facing skills - ability to interact with clients and prospects effectively and be a good ambassador to positively influence future opportunities.Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to clearly convey technical concepts to clients, prospects, management, and other functional areas.Proven track record of underwriting performance exceeding organizational or industry benchmarks.Excellent analytical skills—ability to detect inconsistencies and gaps in applications.Self-motivated and disciplined to thrive in a remote work environment.Up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and regulatory changes.EKG reading ability a plus.Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of products, including Excel.Demonstrated commitment to professional development—FALU, FLMI, CLU, or ChFC coursework is highly valued.Bachelor’s degree preferred - not required.Salary Range:USD 91,000.00 - 152,000.00The annual base salary range posted represents a broad range of salaries around the US and is subject to many factors including but not limited to credentials, education, experience, geographic location, job responsibilities, performance, skills, and/or training.Our Corporate Headquarters Address:General Reinsurance Corporation400 Atlantic Street, 9th FloorStamford, CT 06901 (US)At General Re Corporation, we celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
