OverviewLummus Consultants International is looking for an experienced Principal Consultant with broad Power Engineering and Design background and experience in the provision of technical advisory services to the Power industry. The position is focused on developing the power transmission capabilities in our Houston office and growing our market presence in target regions. The work will primarily entail managing the execution of technical due diligence evaluations for the financial community and project developers. Assignments require a high level of experience and ability to focus quickly on important issues.Lummus Consultants International is an autonomous business within Lummus Technology, that provides technical due diligence to lenders, investors, owners, sellers, buyers and project developers and is looking for an experienced engineer in our U.S. Power Project Services group. This individual should have knowledge and experience in providing expert technical and operational consultation for the assessment of existing or new build power generation projects and solid experience with transmission and distribution projects.Key ResponsibilitiesA broad knowledge of power generation and transmissionHigh degree of self-motivation and strategic thinkingComfort in a business development/sales role and ability to differentiate and prioritize opportunities with real short-to-medium term potential for future consulting assignmentsExperience working on independent technical assessmentsExperience in reviewing key new build project contracts, specifically engineering, procurement, and construction contractsAbility to review construction costs and schedule for new power projectsExperience monitoring the construction of new power projects for lenders and/or ownersAbility to evaluate the condition of equipment at an existing power plantExperience evaluating the operations and maintenance of different power plants including understanding O&M agreements, long-term service agreements, appropriate staffing levels, routine operating and maintenance costs, major maintenance schedules and costs, and expected performanceAbility to assess power plant operations and maintenance requirements and forecast annual operations and maintenance cost projections for new build and existing generation assetsAbility to forecast the necessary capital expenditure budget to ensure reliable long-term operation of the project for new build and existing generation assetsAbility to assess the power plants performance including output, heat rate, and availabilityKey AccountabilitiesResponsible for providing the expert technical review of new build or existing power projectsTake a major role supporting the growth of this new business line for Lummus ConsultantsPursue new opportunities, capitalizing on his strengths, contacts and market opportunitiesLead technical due diligence activities including review of technology, design, execution plans, O&M and performance metrics, project capital costs, and contractsLead a site assessment team as part of the due diligence activities and be comfortable with interviewing plant staffAble to quickly assess material issues based on past experience with other projectsWrite clear and concise reports; coordinate activities with other team members, and relay the results of the due diligence to the client or the client’s advisorsCarry out multiple (short duration) projects concurrently, meeting tight client deadlinesWill be required to support business development, marketing and proposal development effortsAdditional business areas may be identified based on the candidate’s work history, strengths, and interestsSkills, Knowledge & ExpertiseM. Sc. In Electrical Engineering; MBA is beneficial but not required10+ years relevant professional experience in the power sectorExperience working on projects in the North America, Latin America and the Caribbean, Africa, and Asia and with institutions such as the World Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank, and the International Finance CorporationPrevious consulting experience as a lender’s technical advisor is highly beneficialStrong writing skillsThe candidate should have strong interpersonal skills and an ability to interact with peers and clients from different nationalities and culturesDemonstrated project management skillsHouston, TX office. Relocation is not being offered.Job-related travel (business trips usually requiring less than a two-week duration; often just one or two days) which includes international travel to project locations, is an important part of the work.Time away from the office may average 10 to 30 percent of work hours.Lummus Consultants Power Project Services provides technical and operational evaluations of capital projects in the power generation industry with a focus on examining issues surrounding the technical design, execution, and operation of projects. We evaluate technology, design development, contracting strategies, project costs, prospective contractors, proposed execution, schedule and proposed operations and maintenance, overall project performance and the technical inputs to the pro forma financial models, i.e. how each of these parameters will separately and collectively affect the overall project economic forecast. #J-18808-Ljbffr
