OverviewFNBO is seeking a Chief Investment Officer to lead its investment strategy in Wealth Management. The CIO will develop investment strategies, oversee portfolio management, ensure regulatory compliance, and represent FNBO publicly. This role is onsite 100% of the time at FNBO offices in the FNBO footprint (Omaha, NE; Colorado; Kansas City, KS; or Minneapolis, MN).Our employees are central to our story, and FNBO is committed to their success. This opportunity emphasizes a client-first mindset rooted in education, communication, and trust.Location flexibility: the incumbent will work onsite with a dedicated workspace; work location may change based on business needs.About This RoleWe’re seeking a visionary Chief Investment Officer to lead FNBO’s investment strategy across the Wealth Management division with a client-first mindset rooted in education, communication, and trust. This executive will serve as a public-facing investment leader, guiding strategic thinking, mentoring advisors, and representing our point of view to clients, the media, and the broader community. If you distill complex financial topics, have been quoted in leading national publications, appeared in national media, or inspired confidence in clients across economic cycles, we want to meet you.Locations: Omaha, NE; Colorado; Kansas City, KS; Minneapolis, MN.ResponsibilitiesInvestment Strategy & Thought Leadership: Develop and champion FNBO’s investment strategy with a focus on long-term wealth preservation, client education, and accessible advice.Lead investment committees (Asset Allocation, Mutual Fund, Investment Committees) and participate in additional committees as appropriate.Monitor economic trends and translate insights into digestible content for advisors and clients.Guide the development of investment commentary, research, and outreach materials for multiple distribution channels.Client-Focused Portfolio Oversight: Oversee the creation of model portfolios and product strategies aligned with the needs of individual investors, families, and business owners.Ensure risk frameworks align with client goals rather than institutional benchmarks.Support advisors in investment conversations with clients and prospects.Leadership & Collaboration: Lead and inspire a team of investment professionals and strategists; collaborate with advisors, marketing, compliance, and client experience leaders to build a trusted investment voice.Promote a culture of accountability, transparency, and intellectual integrity.Public Representation & Community Presence: Represent FNBO’s investment perspective in the media, at client events, webinars, podcasts, and national industry panels; contribute to published investment thought pieces and market commentary.Regulatory Stewardship: Ensure all strategies, communications, and product oversight meet regulatory and fiduciary standards; partner with Legal and Compliance to uphold governance practices.Qualifications & ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field (MBA preferred).20+ years of experience in investment management, including 10+ years in a leadership role.Preferred experience in a bank Wealth Management or RIA environment.Excellent communicator and educator who can discuss market insights with internal partners and clients, and write widely shared articles.Visible thought leader with experience in national outlets (CNBC, Bloomberg, WSJ, Barron’s, podcasts) a plus.Strong advisor-partner mindset to strengthen the advisor-client relationship.Strategic, long-term, risk-adjusted focus rather than short-term speculation.CFA credential required.Locations & CompensationAvailable locations: FNBO footprint — Omaha, NE; Kansas City, KS; Minneapolis, MN; Denver, CO.Base Pay Range: $225,000–$350,000Benefits & Equal OpportunityWe offer a variety of benefits designed to keep you and your family healthy and financially secure, including medical/dental/vision insurance, 401k with matching, time off, HSA/Dependent Care, employee banking, growth opportunities, tuition assistance, and disability insurance.Learn more about FNBO benefits here: FNBO careers/benefits (no links in final).To obtain compensation and benefit information for this role, email FNBO with the job number in the subject line.
