Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems.About the RoleAs an AV Engineer on Anthropic's IT Engineering team, you'll design and implement the systems that enable world-class collaboration and communication across our global offices. This role is critical as we rapidly expand our physical footprint, with plans for multiple new offices and expansions over the next two years.You'll be responsible for architecting AV solutions from concept through commissioning, ensuring our conference rooms, event spaces, and collaboration areas provide frictionless experiences that enable our teams to advance AI safety research. You'll help establish standards and systems that scale efficiently while pushing the boundaries of what's possible in workplace collaboration technology.This is an opportunity to shape how a cutting-edge AI research organization communicates and collaborates, building infrastructure that supports everything from small team meetings to company-wide all-hands broadcasts reaching thousands of remote participants.ResponsibilitiesLead AV design, procurement, and programming for new office builds, expansions, and retrofits across our global portfolioCreate and maintain AV system designs including schematic drawings, line diagrams, and elevation plansProgram and commission AV systems to meet specific use cases and user requirementsExecute successful "first day of business" deployments for new offices, ensuring all systems are operational for day-one occupancyAttend build coordination meetings with architects, contractors, and workplace teams to drive AV requirements and integrationInnovate and test emerging AV technologies to optimize productivity and enable premium experiences for existing and upcoming spacesDevelop automated solutions to improve system reliability and reduce operational overheadPartner with Security and IT teams to ensure AV systems meet enterprise security requirementsAssist with AV operations support including event production and system maintenance as neededCreate comprehensive documentation for all systems including programming logic, troubleshooting guides, and operational proceduresOversee operations globally to ensure seamless AV operations and service delivery standards are consistently metManage relationships with AV integrators and vendors to ensure project successYou may be a good fit if you:Have 8+ years of experience designing and implementing AV systems in an enterprise environmentAre proficient in control system programming utilizing the Q-Sys ecosystem or similarHave hands-on experience with video conferencing platforms, particularly Google MeetCan read and create AV technical drawings including schematics, line diagrams, and rack elevationsUnderstand digital signal processing (DSP) concepts for audio, including acoustic echo cancellation, noise reduction, EQ/dynamics, and automixingAre familiar with enterprise video distribution, streaming technologies, and broadcast standardsCan manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting aggressive timelinesCollaborate effectively with non-technical stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutionsHave excellent troubleshooting skills and are comfortable diving into complex integrated systemsCare about creating exceptional user experiences through technologyAre excited about the opportunity to build scalable AV infrastructure from the ground upStrong candidates may also have:Experience with Logitech video conferencing ecosystem and management platformsCertifications such as Q-Sys Level 2, CTS, or CTS-DFamiliarity building control scripts using Lua within Q-SysBackground in broadcast production or live event engineeringExperience with Netgear network switches running AV over IP systems (QLAN, Dante, SMPTE 2110)Familiarity with digital signage platforms (Appspace or similar)Understanding of acoustical design principles for conference spacesTrack record of successful large-scale office technology deploymentsPrevious experience performing AV installationsBackground working in high-growth technology companiesExperience with Google Workspace administrationAdditional RequirementsThis position will require 4 days/week in our SF office and up to 8 weeks of domestic and international travel to help with new office build outs.LogisticsEducation requirements: We require at least a Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.Location-based hybrid policy: Currently, we expect all staff to be in one of our offices at least 25% of the time.
