Our employees are not only part of history, they’re making history. Job Description Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer / Sr. Principal Systems Engineer. This position is located in San Diego, CA and supports the Emerging Capabilities Development (ECD) Operating Unit. Responsibilities What You’ll Get to Do: The selected engineer will be responsible for a variety of tasks within the Systems Engineering, Integration, and Test (SEIT) team. Specific tasks include, but are not limited to: Apply MBSE methodologies and tools to support system modeling and design decisions throughout the engineering lifecycle. Lead Systems Engineering efforts for integrating commercial satellite internet (CSI) navigation solutions. This includes direct leadership and collaboration with commercial modem providers as they develop, mature, and deliver their designs. Lead Systems Engineering support for the Software team developing antenna control software and pointing algorithms. Support military waveform development and integration across multiple waveforms. Lead flight test integration efforts on a variety of USAF platforms. This includes creating Verification and Validation Procedures as well as Flight Test Plans in conjunction with platform and customer integrator leadership. Design and run network performance analyses to extract meaningful metrics and improve satellite link quality. Basic Qualifications — Principal Systems Engineer Must have a bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline such as Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related discipline from an accredited university with 5 years of relevant experience, master’s degree with 3 years of relevant experience, or a PhD with 0 years of relevant experience. Must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance with ability to obtain SAP access. Must have demonstrated experience in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools for architecture design, with strong preference for CAMEO experience. Must have experience coordinating with various team members across subsystems during the development process. Basic Qualifications — Senior Principal Systems Engineer Must have a bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline such as Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related discipline from an accredited university with 8 years of relevant experience, master’s degree with 6 years of relevant experience, or a PhD with 3 years of relevant experience. Must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance with ability to obtain SAP access. Must have demonstrated experience in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools for architecture design, with strong preference for CAMEO experience. Must have experience coordinating with various team members across subsystems during the development process. Preferred Qualifications — Principal or Sr. Principal Systems Engineer Experience with Python and Matlab Experience with GPS and other PNT systems Experience with ESA/AESA systems Experience with satellite network performance analysis Experience working with commercial subcontractors Familiarity with ECD Operating Unit and portfolio of programs Familiarity with DOD waveforms Familiarity with NSA certification process Active top secret clearance Compensation and Benefits Primary Level Salary Range: $110,300.00 - $165,500.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $137,400.00 - $206,000.00 The above salary range represents a general guideline; Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate’s experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
