Job Title: FSQ Technician Job Description Join our team as a FSQ Technician, where you will play a crucial role in monitoring, supporting, and ensuring compliance with food safety and quality standards. You will lead by example in Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and work collaboratively to drive improvements in food safety and quality. This role requires a willingness to embrace new challenges and a commitment to continuous learning. Responsibilities * Ensure both food safety and quality of products and processes on a regular basis. * Perform physical inspections and analytical testing for food safety and quality, including checks on color, pH, seal integrity, temperature, date codes, X-ray monitoring, weight, label accuracy, allergens, and cleanliness. * Document all food safety and quality checks as required. * Ensure all stakeholders follow GMP, good housekeeping, and company policies. * Perform hold and release of products after thorough review for food safety and quality, providing feedback for corrective actions when non-conformance issues are found. * Conduct pre-operation inspections of line equipment and processing environment, including environment testing such as ATP and allergen tests. * Collect retain samples and perform product evaluations at the end of shelf life. * Calibrate laboratory equipment and maintain records. * Take appropriate actions to correct deviations or notify the FSQ manager. * Act as a key monitor for reinforcing GMPs throughout plant and warehouse facilities, addressing discrepancies and ensuring corrective actions. * Reinforce GMPs during operation hours and lead by example. * Perform GMP inspections and communicate findings and actions taken. * Reinforce policies, procedures, and controls to meet FDA, USDA, third-party audit requirements, and internal standards. * Support preparation for all third-party audits and follow documented protocols. * Audit food safety and quality records documented by operators. * Seek ways to improve internal processes, documentation, and knowledge transfer. * Maintain organized laboratory and work areas. * Identify opportunities to improve current methods and make recommendations. * Demonstrate adaptability to unexpected changes and seek development opportunities. * Perform other duties as assigned, including acting as backup for FSQ team members, assisting in trainings, mock-recalls, and continuous improvement efforts. Essential Skills * Knowledge in food science and food safety. * Proficiency in Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). Additional Skills & Qualifications * Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds. * Capability to stand or sit for extended periods. * Skill in performing repetitive tasks with hands and arms. * Proficiency in using laboratory equipment and instruments. Work Environment The FSQ Technician will primarily work in a food lab/kitchen environment with potential exposure to hazardous chemicals and materials. Safety protocols and personal protective equipment are mandatory. The shift typically starts at 10pm and requires flexibility, including potential weekend shifts. Work involves frequent standing, lifting, walking, and other physical tasks in varied temperature conditions ranging from 5 to 90°F. Exposure to machinery and equipment with potential hazards is present, and the noise level is high. The role requires the ability to bend, stoop, pull, lift up to 50 lbs, and stand for long periods. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Union City, California. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $30.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
