Position Title: Porter Employment Type: Full-Time, Non Exempt Schedule: 35-40 hours per week Reports To: Sous Chef/Executive Chef About The Mulberry: Opening Fall 2025 in Sawtelle, The Mulberry is a modern Korean American restaurant reimagining the neighborhood bistro. Our team brings experience from celebrated restaurants like Benu, Marea, Daniel, abc Jean-Georges, 53 at MoMA, and the world of Anthony Bourdain. We blend Korean heritage with precise technique and California ingredients, with a deep respect for fermentation, flavor, and fire. Our menu is playful yet rooted in tradition, offering bold interpretations of Korean American comfort food. Designed in collaboration with Matt Winter, the space balances swanky elegance with thoughtful comfort. A full bar, curated wine list, and standout pastry program complete the experience. This is a rare opportunity to join one of LA’s most anticipated openings from the ground up. Key Responsibilities: Maintain cleanliness and organization of all kitchen, storage, and dish areas. Operate dishwashing equipment to clean and sanitize plates, glassware, utensils, pots, and pans. Ensure dishes are properly stored in designated areas, ready for service. Monitor and refill soap, sanitizer, and paper products as needed. Assist with garbage, recycling, and compost removal, following safety and sanitation guidelines. Support kitchen staff by keeping prep and service stations clean and stocked. Assist with delivery reception, checking items against invoices, and organizing storage. Safely transport supplies, small equipment, and waste within the kitchen and storage areas. Take ownership of deep cleaning projects, including but not limited to: scrubbing floors, walls, and equipment, to maintain a sanitary kitchen environment. Communicate with kitchen management regarding any maintenance issues, equipment malfunctions, or safety concerns. Maintain polished personal presentation and represent the restaurant with professionalism. Adhere to all health, safety, and sanitation standards. Work collaboratively with all team members to maintain smooth kitchen and restaurant operations. Qualifications: Minimum 1 year of experience as a porter/dishwasher. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail. Strong work ethic, reliability, and a team-oriented attitude. Ability to follow safety procedures and handle cleaning chemicals responsibly. Physically able to stand for long periods, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs. Flexible availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Punctual and dependable with a positive, professional demeanor. Valid California Food Handler’s Certification required (or ability to obtain upon hire). Compensation & Benefits: We are a non-tipping establishment and work off a very unique bonus system. Hourly Pay: $18-$20/hour (based on experience) Open Wednesday through Sunday for dinner only + weekend brunch!
