At Jessica Lasky Catering, we produce around 250 events a year with guest counts between 10-1,000. Events range from small intimate dinner parties, to weddings and larger corporate gatherings. We strive to create an experience for the client that is boutique and custom. Our aesthetic is rustic, natural, and seasonal. We are in search of an ambitious and organized Kitchen Manager to oversee the daily operations of the prep kitchen and prep team. The Kitchen Manager will report to the operations manager. This is a full time salaried position based out of our north Berkeley production facility. Stable and consistent hours generally run 8:30am to 5:00pm Monday through Friday. Our team works together in a very fast paced, non stop, busy environment. We collaborate and work together to create experiences that are nourishing, soulful, and beautiful. Candidates must be sharp, able to work quickly and efficiently under pressure, flexible, positive and good natured. An ideal candidate will be creative, with a high aesthetic and ability to assist in creating beautiful and cohesive events. The kitchen manager is responsible for: Oversight of the prep kitchen and its general cleanliness, organization, and proper storage, in accordance with all EHD health and safety guidelines Ensuring all food and recipes are prepped and executed fully and to company standards Quality control of all raw and prepped food as directed by Chef Management of certain perishable and non-perishable inventory and maintenance of par levels for those items Management of daily and specialty accounts, ordering and inventory Oversight of all deliveries and kitchen related receivables The kitchen manager will: Organize and print the daily prep list, and lead the morning meeting with the prep team Oversee walk-in and its organization Oversee dry storage organization and inventory Oversee freezer organization and inventory Ensure staff meal is planned for each day and assign prep cook(s) to execute EOD cross-check prep list/move unfinished items to next day's prep list Oversee EOD inventory and submit daily orders for produce, meat and fish etc Consult with FOH & BOH producers on inventory pars and needs, and submit weekly orders Contribute to food prep, as needed Staff Operations: Oversee and manage all prep cooks Remain available to answer all prep-related questions to ensure tasks are completed at a high standard Nurture and cultivate prep cooks Recognize recurring issues and address them accordingly Performance: Attend weekly check-ins with Operations Manager Work with Operations Manager to identify and achieve individual goals More detail about Jessica Lasky Catering & The Little Kitchen, please visit
