Bonnie Brae Ice Cream is more than a store—it’s a Denver institution where nostalgia meets handcrafted perfection. Since 1986, our family-owned shop in the Washington Park and Bonnie Brae neighborhoods has churned out over 120 fresh, in-store flavors, from classics like Butter Pecan to bold favorites like Triple Death Chocolate and Salted Oreo. We’re looking for a Production Manager to lead our kitchen operations with creativity, precision, and a positive spirit. This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives in a small kitchen, loves dessert, and enjoys mentoring a small team. You’ll take ownership of our production space, oversee daily operations, and help shape the future of our flavor lineup. Key Responsibilities Production & Operations (Approx. 80% of role) Lead daily ice cream production alongside your team Create and manage weekly production schedules (ice cream, inclusions, cakes, pies) and assign tasks as needed to kitchen staff Maintain inventory pars and track ingredients/supplies Order inventory weekly and pick up misc ingredients as needed Serve as main contact for wholesale accounts (order fulfillment and invoicing) Communicate with owners and shop managers about inventory, quality, and flavor feedback Maintain quality and consistency standards across all products Organize kitchen systems for ingredients, packaging, and cleaning supplies Conduct weekly inventory and adjust production schedules accordingly Oversee equipment maintenance and implement cleaning and maintenance schedules Maintain a clean and organized kitchen Troubleshoot minor equipment issues and ask owners for assistance with repairs as needed Collaborate with owners to develop costing protocols for ingredients and labor R&D & Flavor Development (Approx. 10%) Suggest improvements to existing flavors and production processes Develop new menu items with attention to seasonality, scalability, and cost Collaborate with owners and manager on monthly and seasonal flavor calendars Leadership & Team Management (Approx. 10%) Lead the kitchen with a positive, inclusive, and excellence-driven mindset Provide clear direction, feedback, and mentorship to staff Assist in hiring and training new team members Conduct “Ice Cream 101” educational shifts for new hires and shift leaders Hold periodic product review and training meetings Attend weekly check-ins with owners and store manager Job Requirements Passion for ice cream, pastry/desserts, and small business culture Reliable transportation and punctuality Basic Spanish language skills Strong leadership and communication abilities Positive attitude  Professional appearance (closed-toe shoes, hair pulled back, clean attire) Ability to lift 50 lbs, stand for long periods, and work in cool environments Comfort with repetitive tasks and physical production work Proficiency in email, text, and virtual communication Preferred Qualifications 2+ years of full-time kitchen leadership experience 2+ years of professional kitchen experience (pastry or similar) Experience working in small business environments Familiarity with Google Docs/Sheets and Microsoft Office Current ServSafe Certification (bonus for Food Manager training) Job Details & Benefits Full-time, $28–$34/hour based on experience Schedule: Monday–Friday, up to 40 hours/week; occasional weekends Paid health insurance Paid time off: 10 days/year + paid holidays Complimentary ice cream (yes, really) Training Period 30-day training period working directly with the current Production Manager and store manager.
