OverviewTitle: Business Analyst - AnnuitiesLocation: Washington, DCSalary: $95,000 - $120,000 / YearJob Type: Full-Time | ExemptBenefits: This position is eligible for medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and PTO.No sponsorship availableThe Business Analyst (BA) is a detail-oriented professional who plays a crucial role in the insured retirement industry. The BA identifies, analyzes, assesses, and documents various aspects of business processes and data to improve efficiency, modernize the market, and drive growth. The BA also acts as a bridge between business stakeholders, technology, and solution partners to gain alignment, define standards, track measures of success, and drive adoption. The BA is well-versed in insurance industry standards, policies, and trends. Primary Responsibilities Requirement Gathering: Build trusted relationships and collaborate with stakeholders to identify, document, and prioritize business requirements, ensuring a clear understanding of objectives, constraints, and success criteria. Business Process Analysis: Analyze existing business processes, workflows, and systems to identify areas for improvement, efficiency gains, and automation opportunities. Data Collection: Work with clients and directors to collect data necessary for initiatives. Data Analysis: Collect, evaluate, and interpret data to support decision-making processes, data visualizations, and reporting measures of success. Data Visualization: Assist directors with developing reports, dashboards, and data visualizations as needed with PowerBI and Excel. Documentation: Create detailed documentation, including business requirements documents, use cases, functional specifications, and process flows, to guide development and implementation. Stakeholder Communication: Facilitate communication between member firm business units and technical teams to ensure a shared understanding of project scope and requirements. Solution Design: Collaborate with technical teams to design and review industry solutions that align with business goals and requirements. Project Management: Assist in project planning with estimates and implementation timelines, tracking, and reporting to ensure adoption. Proactively communicate project status, issues, and solutions to stakeholders. Escalate issues as needed to leadership. Monitor and Assist with Digital Standards Hosting Platform (GitHub): Support directors in monitoring and managing the industry’s Digital Standards Hosting Platform. Continuous Improvement: Continuously monitor and assess business processes and systems, recommending improvements and innovations to drive business growth and efficiency. Risk Management: Identify and address potential risks and issues that may impact success, working with stakeholders to develop mitigation strategies. Communications: Utilize excellent written and verbal communication skills to communicate recommended solutions, weighing risks, benefits, and potential value. Presentations and Meetings: Assist in the preparation of presentations using Microsoft Office Suite. Schedule, attend, or facilitate meetings as needed to support project activities. Other Perform other duties as assigned. Travel as needed. Supervisory Responsibilities This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required in Business, Information Technology, or a related field. Ten or more years of proven experience in a business analyst or similar role with an operational and technical background in the financial services and/or insurance industry (specifically, annuities) is required. Possesses a solid understanding of insured retirement products/solutions and operations functions. Extensive background in project management to deliver key business outcomes is required. Knowledge of insurance processing administration systems and financial services. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of objectives and key results (OKR) and key performance indicators (KPI) for measuring success is highly preferred. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and presentation skills, including the ability to interpret and articulate mandates. Excellent interpersonal relationship skills with the ability to foster and maintain relationships with various audiences to advance positions. Excellent time management and multi-tasking skills and ability to work in a fast-paced atmosphere with changing priorities while maintaining high attention to detail. Must have a strong work ethic and be effective in ambiguous situations. Strong collaborative skills and ability to work in teams as well as independently. Detail-oriented with strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills. Ability to interpret technology regulations, policies, standards, and guidelines and to translate mandates into realistic and practical business operations. Aptitude for learning new technology applications, databases, and other related software as well as proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access, GitHub, and PowerBI, etc.). Understanding of polling software, e.g., Microsoft Forms, etc. Must have regular access to a quiet, professional workspace for work during normal business hours as well as access to a reliable internet connection. Some travel is required with limited advanced notice. Work Environment This job operates in a professional or home office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and virtual fax machine. Physical Demands This position is largely a sedentary role, though it may occasionally require the ability to lift, bend, or stand.
