OverviewTax Senior Manager, Private Client Services (PCS) at BDO is a boutique practice offering a high-touch approach to serving high net-worth individuals, their families, family offices, C-Suite executives, athletes, entertainers, and others with complex tax and financial structures. The PCS Practice covers estate, income, gift, and trust tax consulting and compliance; charitable giving and philanthropic foundations; executive compensation; and cash-flow, retirement, and life insurance planning. Job SummaryA Tax Senior Manager in Private Client Services utilizes education and professional experience, along with communication, time management, leadership, technical, business development, and people skills to provide tax compliance and consulting services to high net-worth clients. Job Duties Manages tax and consulting engagements and identifies client needs, tax planning, and consulting opportunities Acts as primary client contact for preparation and presentation of issues and resolutions Reviews complex individual, trust, estate, S-Corp, foundation, partnership, and gift tax returns and provides feedback to preparers Directs communication with government agencies for highly complex matters Identifies technical issues, conducts advanced tax research, and develops recommendations for PCS leadership, clients, and advisors Expands knowledge through client engagements and current tax developments Prioritizes and reviews work to keep engagements on track Uses analytical, research, and critical thinking skills to assist with client needs Assists with PCS/firm contributions including billing, recruiting, and training activities Builds and maintains relationships with BDO professionals and external sources Other duties as assigned Supervisory Responsibilities Supervises associates and senior associates on projects Reviews work and provides feedback Trains associates and seniors on software tools Acts as a Career Advisor to associates and seniors Schedules and manages workload of associates and seniors Provides verbal and written performance feedback Education, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Bachelor’s degree required; preferred majors: Accounting, Finance, Economics or Statistics Masters in Accountancy or Taxation preferred Experience Seven (7) or more years of experience in accounting, finance, or law Experience in the private client service area Prior supervisory experience required Experience in public accounting preferred Licenses/Certifications CPA, EA, or Attorney (admitted in a U.S. jurisdiction) or equivalent required Other applicable certifications preferred Software Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat Experience with tax compliance software (GoSystems, BNA Tax Planner, GoFileRoom, SurePrep) preferred Experience with tax research tools (BNA Portfolio, CCH IntelliConnect, Checkpoint, LexisNexis) preferred Languages N/A Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Initiative: develop own career and technical knowledge; manage client engagements and supervise team Communication: clear verbal and written communication; interact with clients and advisors Leadership: monitor KPIs, follow up on assignments, and ensure deadlines Technical Skills: provide internal guidance on technical matters; respond to notices and inquiries Business Development: network with financial decision-makers and referral sources People Development: supervise, train, advise, and provide career guidance Salary Information Salary ranges are shown as examples and may vary by location.
