About the job Senior Design Engineer - BASJob Title: Senior Design Specialist Building Automation Systems (BAS)Location: Dallas, TXEmployment Type: Full-TimeSalary Range: $100,000 $120,000 per yearPosition SummaryWe are seeking a Senior Design Specialist with extensive experience in Building Automation Systems (BAS) to lead the design and engineering of controls projects. This role involves creating detailed engineering packages, ensuring project compliance with scope and budget, mentoring junior team members, and contributing to system integration and optimization for high-performance buildings.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign BAS solutions that align with contract documents and sales estimates.Develop detailed sequences of operation and construction drawings (e.g., using Microsoft Visio).Evaluate job sites to determine BAS needs for renovations and new terpret project documents and collaborate with stakeholders to select and configure proper system components.Accurately forecast labor and resources for project engineering.Recommend technical and value-engineered solutions to the sales and operations teams.Generate Bills of Material and Requests for Information (RFIs) to support the project design process.Provide support throughout the project lifecycle, including estimation, design, installation, startup, and municate effectively with internal teams, contractors, engineers, and clients.Mentor and support junior designers and project team members.Maintain and develop design standards and templates.Support ongoing service needs and troubleshoot system issues in existing buildings.Required QualificationsMinimum 5 years of experience in:Using MS Office Suite and basic to advanced computer systems.Reading and interpreting electrical/electronic diagrams.Programming, configuring, and debugging BAS or control systems.Strong understanding of:HVAC mechanical systems (e.g., air handling units, terminal units, central plant).Electrical systems including AC power circuits, breakers, low-voltage communication systems.Skilled in using test equipment (voltmeters, oscilloscopes, amp meters, etc.).Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to problem-solve, collaborate cross-functionally, and deliver high-quality results.Preferred QualificationsBachelors degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or a related field.3+ years of experience with Alerton, Distech, or Niagara BAS platforms.8+ years of experience designing and implementing BAS for complex facilities (e.g., healthcare, high-rises, labs, universities).Advanced experience with HVAC controls programming, commissioning, and troubleshooting.Strong mentorship and supervisory experience on complex -depth understanding of occupancy codes and building system operations.Demonstrated ability to support system integration across various building technologies.Essential FunctionsAbility to lift and carry documents, laptops, and tools.Capable of working at a desk for extended periods.Valid driver's license and clean driving record.Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.Benefits PackageMedical, Dental, and Vision InsuranceFlexible Spending Accounts (FSA)401(k) with Company MatchLife, AD&D, and Long-Term Disability InsurancePaid Vacation, Sick Time, and HolidaysEmployee Assistance Program (EAP)Optional Pet InsuranceHow to ApplyPlease submit your resume and a cover letter detailing your relevant experience and qualifications.
