OverviewManager Engineering 2 - Guidance Navigation & Control (R10189465). Location: Rancho Bernardo, San Diego, CA. This is a Functional Homeroom manager role within Guidance & Control for the Triton program, balancing leadership responsibilities with technical contributions.ResponsibilitiesLead a team of 12–18 Guidance & Control engineers, including college and high school interns.Provide personnel development, mentorship, coaching, and career guidance; coordinate staffing, training, performance evaluations, promotions, salary considerations, and HR-related support.Develop and improve personnel and organizational technical skills; mediate and resolve personnel issues with Human Resources as needed.Ensure process alignment, support program milestone reviews and deep dives, and assist in setting division objectives.Collaborate with managers of other engineering disciplines, program managers, and IPT leads; champion organizational change to maintain competitive advantage.Demonstrate commitment to ethics and integrity, and foster diverse, inclusive teams with high engagement.Maintain excellent verbal and written interpersonal communication.As the Functional Homeroom Manager (20%), provide leadership while also contributing technically as part of the G&C team (80%).As the G&C Engineer (80%), perform tasks including earned value management considerations, control account management for G&C on development contracts, performance and flying qualities analysis, non-linear 6DOF simulation analysis, linear MATLAB analysis, data analysis, and mission plan analysis support.Position reports to the Vehicle Controls and Flight Sciences Department Manager; assignment managed by the Triton VMS IPT. Hybrid work is available; up to 10% travel required.QualificationsBasic QualificationsBachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university and 9 years of related experience, or a Master’s Degree with 7 years of related experience.Active DoD Secret Clearance.Previous leadership experience.Knowledge of control system design and analysis.Experience with MATLAB and/or Simulink.Preferred QualificationsExperience with AGILE/JIRA/Confluence.Knowledge of CAM/Earned Value.Knowledge in auto coding, linear and non-linear analysis, aerodynamics, stability and control, simulation/modeling, and test data analysis.Experience with C/C++ and Python.Salary and BenefitsPrimary Level Salary Range: $156,500.00 – $234,700.00. Salaries are determined based on scope, responsibilities, candidate experience, education, and market conditions. Eligibility for overtime, shift differential, and discretionary bonuses may apply.
