Atlanta Technical College (ATC) is seeking highly qualified applicants for its Police Corporal (Full-Time) position in the Campus Safety division. This position is located on Atlanta Tech's main campus, just South of Downtown Atlanta. The Police Corporal (Full-Time) will serve as a senior law enforcement officer responsible for performing patrol duties, mentoring officers, and providing leadership in the field. This role acts as a bridge between line officers and supervisory staff, ensuring that department procedures and law enforcement standards are upheld. The Police Corporal may act in a supervisory capacity during the absence of the Lieutenant and is often responsible for training and guidance of officers. Job duties include, but may not be limited to the following: * Act as first line supervisor in the absence of the Lieutenant, will be assigned as OIC. * Plan, prioritize, supervise, and review the work of sworn law enforcement staff involved in traffic and field patrol, investigations, crime prevention, community relations, and related services and activities. * Supervise non-sworn staff in dispatch, records, and property and evidence room as assigned. * Prepare, process, and maintain a variety of written reports and records pertaining to assigned activities, including daily activity reports. * Review incident reports, required forms, summons, records, and related documents prepared by subordinates to ensure accuracy and timely completion; correct, or instruct officers to make corrections, as needed. * Implement approved policies and procedures. * Interpret, convey, and ensure implementation of agency policies, procedures, and methods; ensure that personnel have clear guidelines of authority and responsibility. * Train and evaluate assigned personnel; assist with training and orientation of new employees. * Provide training, guidance, and counseling to assigned personnel. * May act as incident commander until such time as a higher-ranking person assumes command. * Provide a full range of administrative support to management staff. * Conduct a variety of organizational studies, investigations, and operational studies. * Recommend modifications to programs, policies, and procedures as appropriate. * Conduct internal affairs investigations and investigations of citizen complaints as necessary. * Participate in shift activities as necessary; including enforcing local and state laws, issue citations, and make arrests. * When assigned to investigations, supervise and personally conduct complete and detailed investigations of a general and specialized nature; review all patrol generated reports and evaluate, prioritize, and assign them for follow-up investigations. * Manage day-to-day activities and coordinate investigations including those involving several officers, units, and divisions. * Supervise and assist officers in follow-up investigations, including the gathering of evidence, questioning of witnesses, and apprehension of suspects. * When assigned to traffic, supervise and participate in traffic control activities and accident investigations. * Respond to call outs on major injury or death accident investigations; respond to questions from citizens concerning traffic related issues. * Oversee and supervise a variety of special services; background investigations for new hires; coordinate special complaints. * Will be the TSCG Police Certification Manager * Assist with Clery Team Report * Performs routine patrols on campus, responds to emergency calls, and enforces law. * Perform related duties as required. Minimum Requirements: Must possess and demonstrate the following: * High School Diploma or GED * GA Post Certified Police Officer * Minimum five (5) years of full-time law enforcement experience * Current and valid law enforcement certification * Valid State of GA driver's license with an acceptable driving record * Must have administrative experience. Preferred Qualifications: Preference may be given to candidates who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess and demonstrate the following: * Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and ordinances. * Proven Leadership ability and decision-making under pressure. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills. * Proficiency in writing, documentation, and investigative procedures. * Familiar with UOF policies and defensive tactics. * Integrity, Professionalism, and Strong Interpersonal Skills.
